Misting system

I have heard that you can soak the tubing in vinegar or something, to dissolve any buildup of minerals. Is this correct?? Also if you do this, do you just take off the tubing, and just soak the tubing in vinegar?? Or is there more to it

Is this for a mistking? Have you been using tap water?

Monsoon solo. (I want a mistking though) yes I’ve been using tap, but letting it sit out for a day, because of chlorine. I know it doesn’t get rid of minerals that buildup though, so was hopping this ^^^ would work?? I don’t want to have to buy like a whole reverse osmosis system thing... if possible.

Well from what I have seen on the forum... It is not the tubing.. It is the actual equipment that the minerals and calcium mess up. The nozzle heads will stop producing a mist the way they should due to the build up.

Ooooooohhh... yeah that was what I was worried about. Well I plan to get a mistking in the future... ??? anyways at least we got the monsoon for cheap?.

ugh now I feel bad because I honestly just want to be rid of the monsoon... I wanted the mist king originally but my mom did not agree... It was too pricey.

The monsoon has wirked great for me just use distilled water it is around .75 per gallon at the grocery store and will leave no build up

You should be able to soak the misting nozzles in distilled, white vinegar to break down some of the hard water deposits and improve flow of they are clogging

Will it ruin the nozzle?? Sorry I know nothing about misting systems.??

I just don’t want to have a bunch of plastic waste..

I think this is a commendable goal. A long term solution would be to have a reverse osmosis system installed in your house. Might be a tough sell for your parents. Alternatively if you live in the country, you could collect rain water using a rain barrel. I live in a city where even if I collect rain water, it's just recommended for garden or house plants that aren't going to be consumed due to air pollution. So sadly at the moment I'm using distilled water and recycling the bottles. But to your point, reducing is best! And once I own a home, I'd be looking into RO system installation.

In the meantime cleaning your misting nozzles with vinegar won't damage them. It's just an inconvenience.

+1 (y) We have to do that with our shower head once or twice a year!

Now kiddo, we discussed that. If you don't want a bunch of plastic waste, then make the most out of the monsoon system until it dies of natural causes, because if you just scrap for a MistKing, you'll be left with...
...a bunch of plastic waste! ?

Likewise.

I just ordered some Sansi lights because they cost about the same as T5HOs, last 5X as long, don't contain mercury, and have a much smaller environmental impact.

I'm feeling pretty good about that. ?

thanks to everyone who responded

Yes ok klyde o scope I know I will just use the monsoon till it dies... Yeah so never mind what I said before.

also how much does it cost to install a reverse osmosis system
