Mistking Needed?

Hello! I'm new here and progressing to building my cage and getting everything I need for my little dude soon! I'm getting a baby, and was told ReptiBreeze's small cage (16"x16"x20") is fine for my chameleon until it gets bigger. I've also heard amazing things about mistkings and investing in a system. My question is, for my size cage, is a mistking overkill? I do see the benefit of the system being automated, especially if I'm going to be out for long periods of the day. I'm just trying to justify the expense, considering it's already costing me a lot to get started. Thanks for the input!

Honestly, get a mistking now because you'll re-use it on the adult cage.

You will never regret having the mistking. Go for it! When we first got our chameleon we thought we would hand spray for awhile until we saved up for an automated system. Within two weeks of getting our cham, I had to be in the hospital for a few days. Needless to say we ran out and got our Aquazamp right away. Best cham purchase ever! It gives us so much freedom.

As for your cage, your cham will outgrow that very quickly! You might consider just starting with the larger cage. They are practically full grown by 12 months and if you get them at the typical 3-5 months old, that's less than a year in the baby cage. You can raise the bottom of a large cage up to create a smaller space temporarily. Just a thought.

Dangit! That's what I was afraid of...everywhere I'm reading that it should be at least 36" high...duped by local shop! I don't know that they'll let me return it now that I built it...oh well, I'll just have to suck it up and maybe just use the little one for something else down the road. I think I will just buy the mistking since I'll need it later anyways.

Man this is getting more expensive than my firstborn! :)

I know the feeling in regards to the expense, it can cost a pretty penny to set one up properly, I shudder to think how much I've spent on my little guy, but as long as you stick with quality you'll be able to re-use whatever you buy again and again, especially the MistKing system, and the interior mounting brackets for the nozzles are very handy and easy to fit, they save you having to cut a messy hole through the mesh. I highly recommend MistKing.

And as for the Reptibreeze, I'm pretty sure they won't let you return it if it's been constructed, but there's never any harm in asking, the worse they can say is "no". One of that size can be used for a variety of other things at a later point if you so desire.

What would you recommend? I see they have a 18x18x30 and an 18x18x36. I have space for either, but is the smaller of the two better since it'll be a baby or just go to the 36?

I started off with a medium Reptibreeze, it's the appropriate size for a baby/juvenile cham and the chameleon can stay in there until it's large enough for the adult enclosure, I'm using the Reptibreeze XL as my adult enclosure and I plan on purchasing a baby/juvenile panther in the next few weeks, which I plan on raising in the Medium Reptibreeze my first one started in.

Dont feel duped... just use it for something else... Ive got a 18x18x36.. it will be my vacation enclosure... so i can transport to a responsible family member to watch after....

Thanks for all the tips and advice guys! Really appreciate it! I'm going to just get the bigger one and save this for some future needs, maybe it'll be one big cricket breeding cage...haha.

How often should the mistking be going off? I've been told about 2-3 times per day by a friend, just making sure that's appropriate.
