Mistking nozzles scaring cham

Hi Guys,

I got this new mistking system using only 1 nozzle and it works pretty well. My cham is a young 3 mo male ambilobe. The problem I have is that he is scared by the nozzle and constantly looks at it. He does not move but looks around a lot. I could imagine he sees the nozzle as a snake or at least a predator. Have you ever seen this before? What did you do? I was thinking of adding some foliage around the nozzle.

Herpmist nozzles are far less scary . jk

I have seen Chams do this not because they are scarred but because they wanted some water to come out of it. Are you sure he isn't just waiting for a drink? Does he show stress colors? It may be the opposite you are seeing. he may love the nozzle.

When I first set up my herpmist my female panther hissed and bit the nozzle when it first turned on. I was laughing so hard, by the time I found the camcorder she had calmed down... She was perfectly fine, but probably got a mouthful of water :)

huh... thats funny...never seen or heard of that before... but like ryan said it may be a matter of him wanting water perhaps.. also.. from him being 3 months old im guessing he is fairly new??.. he may still be adjusting/acclimating to his new environment ..maybe?

lol...what a great video that would have been...

i hope they are not too scary, mine just arrived yesterday, lol, i will probably set it up sunday, ill let you know what my chams do

Haha... that's funny. I thought the red headed white snake was scarier ;) I think he just needs to get used to a new feature in the enclosure. When it's no longer perceived as threat he'll be OK.

I guess this makes sense.

I am not sure about him wanting water though. He had quite a good shower last night when I installed it. I'll give him some time to get used to it. Thanks guys.

Good point on the red headed snake.. HAHAHA :D:D:D

Howdy Etienne,

Also, if you decide that the mist pressure is too high, there is a tiny hex screw on the front of the pump that allows you to reduce the pressure. Counter-clockwise 3-4 turns will take the std 75psi down to around ~40psi. You won't go through as much water per session and some chameleons prefer a gentler mist. Try hot water too. Some prefer a mist that comes out warm rather than cool.

Chams love my nozzles, even baby veileds.

This little guy couldn't get enough of them and learned extremely quickly from where all that wonderful water came.

He's probably just scared of seeing his reflection in that shiny metal coupler. :)

Everyone knows that chameleons specifically prefer one color of mist nozzle set up over another

People, these misting systems are pretty much identical save for nozzle color. You decide which is less intrusive. Look at them:rolleyes:

haha...too funny - that's why we sell 2 kinds. :D

or, this 'reflectionless' value nozzle

and if you're still not convinced, check out the clearance section

If you havent tryed this yet, point the nozzle down instead of out. All my chams love the Mist King Nozzles. They run up to them when they are turned on.

I was able to find all that stuff at the lowes, in the pumbling section and gardening.

EXCEPT for one piece, and that was the center section that you putt into the mesh to secure it.
