Monsoon mister help

My Monsoon wasn't getting proper pressure and I found out it was from this.






Anyone know exactly what this is? Is it like a filter or a back flow stopper? Also how it can be cleaned or fixed? It looks like I should be able to pop the top off of it but it isn't coming off easy and I didn't want to force it and maybe break it if it's not supposed to actually come open.

I believe they have changed the design in newer models and it would appear you can buy replacements:

Thanks. I figured it was a filter and may just be clogged.

Anyone know if it can be cleaned or do I have to just replace it?

You could try soaking it in vinegar.

The one I have has something that looks like an air-stone at the very end that acts like a filter. Maybe you could get that instead of what you have.

I tried that and it seems to be working now.
