mosquitoes

Not if my torts are any indication. They dont mind at all and in the summer the mosquitos swarm on them sometimes. I've never seen them bite the iguana though...maybe lizards aren't as tasty as turtles. ;)

You know? This is one thing that gets my brain churning about Vit A. They say chams are insectivores and you get the whole pre/pro formed vit A debates but. If mosquitoes suck blood then is that not a form of preformed vit A that they get in the wild? Along with other bugs like that I think of flies. Flies lay in rotting meat. If a fly lays then gets eaten does it have some preformed Vit A on them or in their system? If they do this would mean just because they are insectivores doesnt mean they arent getting preformed Vit A froum bug sources.

Yeah but chams don't eat mosquitos... I'm sure they do get some vitamin A from the bugs they eat but who's to say that's what they are using? I bet they get some proformed too from what the bugs were eating. (I'm not chosing a side of the vitA debate - still undecided). I think it's too ambiguous to assume anything based on some bugs getting vitA (how much is really in blood anyway?) on that alone without looking at the rest of their dietary intake. Just my two cents. :)

Lol what about adult brookesia minima :p just busting on you.

Honestly though i think captive chams miss out on eating non vegetarian insects now and then. New gutload -- poop and blood!!!!

I live along the Galveston coastline, and West Nile is a constant bother to just about any and all pets here. Along with that I'm pretty sure they can carry other diseases and a pretty heavy parasite load at the least.
