Most efficient timer?

I bought a timer when i first started keeping chameleons and it barely worked a week. Im getting tired if manually turing off the lights so im going to invest in a timer. Im just wondering what product has been working for everyone. Also, can i just plug an adapter into a timer and have the adapter go on and off with the lights? Or do i need multiple timers per light? Any and all info is appreciated. Thanks
Geoff

From an electrical standpoint, there's no harm in switching an adapter (I assume you mean a power strip?). The thing you have to check is the amp rating of the timer. If you've got a lot of high powered lights plugged into a strip, then you could overload a cheapo timer meant for just one little appliance.

I like the analog ones (im pretty sure that's what theyre called) over the digital. They have tons to choose from since its Christmas season for all the lights. I just saw a whole bunch at target and lowes.

If only they didnt make that werrrrng clicking noise as they timed. I cant sleep with them things, might as well put a mechanical clock in my room :)

Thanks aric and asongforyou. Ill go to target today and check some out. If they're cheap i think ill get a few.

Nightanole, same here i wouldn't be able to sleep.

Agreed! The digital ones have gone bad on me far too often, but the analog ones where you push which hours you want on and off tend to last forever! Not to mention, they're generally cheaper.

remember to check home depot also.
i git one there that handles all my lights and has 4 extra outlets for things you may want to control manually

8 outlets altogether

I use the timer power strips from home depot. They are really good, I haven't had any issues.

I went with a power strip that has a built in digital timer that you can assign different on/off settings to each of the 8 plugs. I bought it at Lowes for like $25 it has been working great

Yes, I know what you mean. One of mine is super loud but my chams are in a different room so I don't hear it. My other analog isn't as loud.
