I've specifically kept the chameleo trioceros rudis sternfeldi. The giant red "jeweled" locality to be exact and I think they need their own sub-species classification, but that's another story for another time...
I kept mine at 80F during the day with a significant temperature drop to the mid/low 60's overnights. Being montane chameleons, they like constant high humidity so never let it drop below 70%. Ever. I've noticed the rudis aren't finicky eaters and accept most types of feeder insects in captivity. The rudis are fairly active compared to their close relatives but a huge cage is not needed. They are more tractable than your calyptratus, but I still don't consider them to be "hands on" animal and should be left alone.
