Mounting climbing branches

How do you mount your climbing branches for your chameleons? Both on a screen cage and not a screen cage? My big cham is knocking them all down the way i have them now.

Also i had a idea to keep them up. Attaching strong magnets to the ends of the branches and using a cap on the outside of the cage to keep them held up. Think this would work? Might order a few to try it out.

I attach my branches with magnets you can get at Home Depot. They have all different sizes. Just cut the end of the branches so the surface is flat, then I use Gorilla Glue to glue one magnet on each end of the branches. Then stick another magnet on the outside of the cage. They're quite strong.

The magnets are an awesome idea for a glass cage. But for my screen cages I just use push-pins/thumb tacks through the screen.

I tried that first, but the branches would keep spinning when my cham would walk on them.

Using two push-pins on at least one end of the branch should solve the spinning problem, unless the branches are too thin for two pins...

Maybe you could use branching branches, and a three-point push-pin anchoring system?

attaching to cage

Hi, I use hot glue or thin floral wire. Be careful with Gorilla glue, as it is toxic.
Good luck.

Twisty ties! They have LOADS of them at the grocery store. When I bought a lot of veggies for the bugs I grabbed about 10 extra twisty ties just incase I needed them. ;)

For hanging branches in a screen cage, I like using plastic chain attached to the top of the cage with cable clips. The Action Jackson method. :D It makes it so easy to change branches and set it up without making holes in the screen. My guys occasionally use the chains to climb, too.

Thanks Melissa. I actually set up a few more cages that way today and was thinking how much I like doing it that way. I replaced some of the dowels that we're getting old for a couple bucks each cage. I saw a couple of my chameleons sleeping on the chain last night.
