Mounting Plants on Screen Cage

Ive noticed some of your cages have smaller plants mounted to the side of the cage (higher up) or in corners. How did you go about mounting them. I would rather not put to many holes in the screen if i can help it. Any tips some of you veteran cham owners would help. Dont want my guys to go for a ride on one falling either. Thanks!

Place a dow rod along the top of the cage and the use fishing line to tie the pot(this will leave the screen intact). This will distribute the weight across the top. If you are still worried about the weight, ensure the dow rod is long enough so that if rests on the frame and not the screen intself.

Thanks for the fish line idea.. The top of my cage opens and the lower half so i need the top to be clear if possible .. other than moving lights. I actually use dowell as branches, with a ficus as foliage. While my bigger cham is all about dowell branches, the smaller likes his ficus (gonna wait to order bio vine w/ new cage). ive seen a couple pictures where people have bailing wire holding the pot up i was curious what they fastened it to.

I put a 1x8 piece of wood across the top of the cage. It holds my dripper and I also drilled small holes in it and suspended my potted plants using 25lb test fishing line.

Good questions, because I was wondering how people hung the pothos as well. I'd be afraid the fishing line could possible cut the chams.

This is the best idea. I heard it months ago and I thought it was so clever. I plan on using it soon when I remodel the cages.

I don't think the line could hurt the chams. I've never been cut by fishing line, much less the thicker heavy weight type.

I've been fishing forever.... kinda goes along with the whole "dad owns a marina" territory haha. I know that stuff can definitely cut skin while fishing, but I figured it couldn't hurt to ask if anyone has had a cham get hurt with it.

I use all that plasticy- wiry stuff that all my son's toys come packaged in and make the toy next to impossible to remove, but works great for ties in the cham cages. It is usually greyish/ silver, and the pieces are usually fairly long.

Oh well I take what I said back then! I guess I should rephrase and say I've never been cut by it during the very few times I do go fishing and only get puffer fish on the end of the line (so a much gentler use of the stuff than someone who actually catches stuff!). So I think that if you get the thicker, heavy weight type, there shouldn't be anything your cham does to get hurt by it, I would imagine? And if you can find colored line I think chams would have no problem what so ever avoiding it if they want.
