Moved his tail as i closed the door!

Ok! so i was just about to close his door when he moved his tail in the way and i pinched his tail with the door! Since then ( about a few minutes ago) there is a bruise and his tail isnt spiraling how it should! What should i do?! will the problem fix itself? should i take him to a vet?! I'm freaking out and i dont remember how hard i closed it but its not like it closed all the way at all! HELP PLEASE!

you are not the only one who has done this, i personally havent but i have read about other members doing the same thing so try not to feel bad!
can you please post a pic of it for us to check out?

ok try not to freak too much! I too did the same thing when I got my first chameleon. His tail turned dark where it got caught and I thought it was going to fall off! The bruise may take many days to go away. He should be ok. Just watch to make sure the skin texture does not change where it starts to dry up like the tissue is dying. There is no need to see a vet unless you see a change as I described.

I will say one thing after going back and reading your post...my chameleon could still curl his tail. It was bruised pretty much instantly, but he was able to still spiral it. Just keep an eye on it. I am not sure what they can do for a broken tail if that were the case. I do know if the tissues dies or become necrotic, they can amputate the dead part and your chameleon could still live a full life. There have been many chameleons on here with injured tails. Like I said don't panic yet.
