Moving with Chams and other reptiles

Okay, so i've been planning a move to california for 2 and half years now. every year i save between 8-10 grand... and at the end of each year something horrible happens whether i lose a job because of injury or my car gets totaled from the inside out... or baby expenses get the best of me. I ahven't bought anything for myself other than karma over the past year... or necessities. I don't make NEAR as much money as i used to and in fact now my girlfriend is the main source of income for us... i haven't made a dime in 7 months.

I know some people on the forums live in CA and i was curious about cost of living and ways of bringing my herps with me from ohio. Planning on moving in the next 12 months or so if business picks up so i can breed and have more than just art to rely on. I want to move to santa barbara... so if you live in or around that area if you could let me know on a reply or a message that would help me out GREATLY.

I just want a better life for my family and for my pets.

I just moved out to Cali last November. Made the haul from South Florida. Let me tell you that was a drive.:( Especially alone. I made the trip with 2 Beardeds, a Savannah, and a reef tank. The herps made the trip fine but I lost everything with the reef. Half the tank fried by the heater and the other froze in the back. Luckily the lizards were right by my head so I was able to control there temps alot easier.

As for cost of living. Cali is High! Having grown up in Indiana then moving to Florida and now here. I can tell you Cali is about double the cost of Indiana (which should be about the same as Ohio).

Im in Bakersfield, about an hour and a half to 2 hours outside LA. Its all Oil by me though. I personally dont plan on staying here for too long. Wanting to head back east in the next few years.
