so whats going on over at mulberryfarms...i mean they havent had any medium or large size silks in 5 months????whats going on...anyone got the iside scoop?

also i found a few mulberry trees near a small pond....can i use the wild leaves...and what should the leaves look like so i get the right kind....also how long will they stay edible in the fridge...lik a week or two?

and finally im thinking about ordering 25 butterworms for my chameleon....how big do they get....can they crawl on the screen cage....and can i gut load them...or do they just live in the wood shavings....also should i re-fridge them or keep them at room temp.......also does your chameleon like them?????

I spoke with MBF on Monday morning. They said butters will be back in stock this up coming week. Butters won't really grow after you purchase them, you store them in the refrigerator, in bran. They may eat a bit of carrot over the storage period, mainly for moisture. They are about 3/4-1" in length and like a catapillar. They are able to hang on the screen, and actually move quite swiftly. They are an excellent feeder for dehydrated and malnurished chams. I have them in my regular feeding regimine, as treats.

As for the silks, I have not seen larges in ages either. They are more then likely replenishing thier stock at the moment, and will be sold in small lots, when they become available. Growing them to that size takes little effort and is quite fun, if you want to try. I am raising 700 at the momment, and have 24 cacoons ready to spring open anyday now.

As for the trees and leaves... You can harvest leaves, wash them in cold, then pat dry. Place them in freezer bags for storage. The "crisper drawer" in the fridge works well for storage. I have stored them for up to 1 month with great results. Schools and parks are prime locations for Mulberry trees.

On one of my orders a while back there was a problem and while we were talking she was saying they had problems with some eggs being mishandled and lost a bunch. They are probably still trying to get caught up.

okay they are reliable so they will be in the game soon.....i just hate unpacking 500 1/8 inch worms wraped in food dried food and silk....that takes hours!
