multi-species cages?

what is teh general opinion on housing multiple chameleons of different species together? provided they are same age/size...
not necessarily same sex?

I big NO! They'll fight and constantly be stressed all the time. One will end up out competing the other for food and decent basking spots. Chameleons are not suitable to be housed together if they are a different species. Same species can be housed together if there is a large free roaming area with multiple basking spots and many territory's but i still wouldn't recommend it at all.

Oh cool! I get to play Devil's Advocate again :D In my 17 years of chameleon keeping, I have done it a number of times with NO problems whatsoever. While, in general, I would not recommend it, if you take individual sizes and personalities into consideration and provide a large enough enclosure with ample territories, basking sites, etc. it can be done successfully long term. Careful monitoring of behaviors, feeding, etc is required. In a large cage I've kept multiple females of different species together. I've also known of a number of wc chams, imported as adults, that were housed together in large screen houses outdoors that lived very long (8+ years in captivity) lives.

thanks

i have no imediate plans, but i was thinking for the future...
currently i have only one male veiled chameleon, but i did have a female and they were housed together in a 6x 3x 3 foot cage... no fighting or undue stress that i could discern
if i were to expand i would get a panther, its just a Q of whether two males would fight :/ other wise the newbie would be constricted to a 3x2x3 cage and it just seems much too small :(
