Multiple Basking Lights?

Hi, all. First post. Dig the forums...hardcore. Thank you.

Does it matter how many basking lights an enclosure has so long as the temperatures are appropriate?

I have four incandescent bulbs via two fixtures and this is giving me a great range of temps up to almost 90. Some of the bulbs are on the side of the cage. Is there anything detrimental about this set-up?

Spanks...oh, I had to add a photo of Soloman. He's so rad (and not really upside down).

Welcome to the forums! You should have at least an incandescent basking spot and a UVB basking spot. Adding more is OK as long as he has appropriate temperature ranges, especially if it is a really large cage. I wouldn't keep the entire top of the cage at the basking temp, because there may be times when he doesn't want to be basking but still wants to be high for the safety.

Personally, I would always have the lights shine down from the top since this is the case in nature and having lights shining sideways could cause eye problems and irritation if he ends up staring into them for long periods.

He looks very nice and healthy, lots of color. How old is he?
