Mustard Spots

For the first time today I noticed that Claudia was displaying the "mustard spots" and the bluish tint that would indicate a receptive female veiled. I didn't get a picture yet and she's sleeping now, but I'll try to get one tomorrow to verify that's what it is. But how long between being receptive and eggs? I've got her laying bin in there with her already and she's had zero interest in it, but I just want to start to prepare for the inevitable even more. Should I start putting up a privacy sheet now or wait until she shows signs of laying eggs?

This has me completely terrified. I want everything to smoothly for her and my fear of her becoming egg bound is through the roof, so I want to make sure I'm approaching this situation correctly.

My female veiled is many months past that stage and has no eggs - she is good - I had a laying bin for her but she stayed healthy and well fed.

As promised, here's a photo of her that I took about a half hour ago. For the record, she just ate a pretty large hornworm and some crickets and she always looks extra puffy after a bigger meal. Later in the day she looks much smaller, it seems. But maybe I just image all of that and she's always that full in the belly. I palpate her belly daily to see if I feel any eggs but I haven't yet.

She's behaving normally, casually roaming her cage as she always has, never going to the bottom. Eating fine, staying hydrated, etc. The only change has been the mustard spots and blue showing up just yesterday.

Claudia is a beautiful little lady now. May sure to keep a laying bin in her enclosure at all times. There's been plenty of times when I nor my vet could feel infertile eggs and my girls laid eggs just a few days later.

Thank you, jannb! Her laying bin is set and ready for her when she's ready for it. Hoping it'll all go smoothly when the time comes.
