My Ambanja Male - Thoughts?

Here are some pictures of Gizmo. He is 7 months old now and doing well. He did have an amputation of a hemipenis a little over a month ago but is eating again and drinking and pretty much back to normal.

This is only one version of his colors. He has sooo many! Let me know what y'all think and I am almost ready to get him a girlfriend.

I think if he doesn't have his hemipenes then he wont need a girlfriend.

Also that is not an ambanja maybe an Ambilobe or a cross.

That is true , I am not experianced with the amputation procedure. I was not sure if they chop them both off or not.

I am leaning twards cross as well.

Well he did not have the whole thing amputated just one half and in many cases they are still very successful in breeding after that.

How are you coming to the determination that he is not Ambanja locale? I got him from a reputable breeder and he shows the colors I would think of for an Ambanja regularly but not when taking these pictures. Most of the time he is green with dark bars and other times he shows turquoise background with almost purple bars. I will try to get some other variations but he is pretty camera shy.

The coloration as well as the rostral process is what leads me to believe its not an ambanja. It closer resembles the coloration of an ambilobe but just does not look to me, like a pure ambilobe locale.

By rostral process do you mean that the "lobes" (for lack of the correct word) are not large enough in the front? Just trying to learn more everyday. Thanks.

Hes talking about the projection on his snout. Its too rounded off to be an ambanja. Ambanjas end to have a flatter more angular rostral process.

Who'd you get him from? Did you see the parents?

I did not see the parents as it was ordered via the internet.

I did email the seller today and they stated that it was a mistake on their part and that this is an ambilobe male and not an ambanja so y'all were correct and I am more educated. Thanks for the input and information.

Hes still a nice looking male either way. Glad to hear ya got an honest answer.
I would expect a major discount on my next purchase from them though.

Might just be me but he looks very sambava like. The U bar, the deep maroon bars with lime green back ground. May just be from the last pics though? Either way he looks great

he looks a lot like my red bar ambilobe. mine also shows blue or purplish bars at times but he looks just like yours most of the time. you shouldnt feel any different because hes an ambilobe. hes an amazing creature thats for sure.
