My Baby Cham's Enclosure Starting to Come Together!

You will also need to repot your plant in organic soil. If you got it from lll then it should already be pesticide free and you don't have to worry about repotting it. It would also be a good idea to cover the exposed soil with smooth river rocks to prevent consumption by your cham.

Yes, i'm also a little confused on the supplementation part. I do only have those 2. I need to find a good site that will explain in full detail how to use these, lol! Or if anyone can explain to me?

I did buy my ficus from LLL and will find some rocks to set onto the soil... I saw that a lot in other set ups I have been looking at, sure wouldn't want the little guy to swallow some of that stuff.

I went to LLL Reptiles yesterday and picked up a 100 watt Powersun UV Bulb. It is for both a warmth and UVB bulb. This is what the guy working there told me they used for their Cham's and is what he recommended to me. It made sense to me and do like that I don't have to use 2 different bulbs. I don't know if I can fit anymore vines in there but i'll try, lol! I had to trim down my ficus quite a bit to fit the cage. = / I should have just bought a smaller one.:

I use the same bulb for the past 2 or 3 months without a problem.. I'm still a newb though.. I also use a controller to keep my parameters as stable as possible..

Gabbie,

I am picking up some organic soil, (Happy Frog) either tomorrow or Thursday not a big bag but will do a few plants. If you want some let me know. or if you don't want to travel down south my way, Andersons Nursery on Pacific Coast Highway by near old town has it for a good price.

I already removed it and am trying to figure a different means of drainage. I'll figure it out.

Thanks Jandie! :)

I bought the Ficus from LLL so no need to re-pot the thing, lol! Thank you for the offer though Nacho. :D

Here is a link to some great reading from sandrachameleon. She has a ton of info related to nutrition and supplementation in her other blogs. These pages helped me A LOT!

There is a lot of reading but it is full of 100% pure awesome.

I dont really trust the guys down at LLL for any sort of cham or reptile keeping advise for that matter. They have great prices and usually some pretty good animals, but they arent the most husbandry oriented bunch. Me and one of my friends got him a veiled from there once and they told him the cham didnt need a multivitamin dusting, you didnt need to gutload crickets and to put calcium w/d3 on the crickets everyday. It was one of those things where, yes the cham MIGHT have lived, but i highly doubt it. They also wanted him to get a powersun instead of a 5.0 and normal house bulb too.

Thank you guys for the links, I will be sure to read up some more.

Now, I have learned not to really go by what they tell me there. One guy also told me to dust my feeders with calcium powder with D3 every feeding. I knew not to when he was telling me that so I just shrugged it off. You guys are my guys to go to :D.
