Julle I have good news and bad news.

Good news, your pictures are wonderful, I will be looking at them often. I have my first pair of transvaalense.

Bad news, you may be a junior member, but you are my new buddy and are stuck with me forever!!!

You have quite the collection! I suspect there is much we can learn from you then :)

We have recently got an import of B thamnobates, transvaalense, and pumilum here to the US, and most of us are new to these species.

Julle, thanks for sharing!:) I can never get enough pics of Bradypodion, they are my favorite genus. I think I have you on my facebook. My name is Paul Fowler:) Ive seen alot of these pics before, if your last name is Parkkinen right?

How do you keep them? Can you please share some info with all of us? thank you.

Yes :)

How i keep them, it's simple..

I keep them only in screen enclosures nowadays, glass didn't work for me.

I use HID lighting for all my animals, one bulb per cage. It provides heat/intensive light and lots of UV. I do use solarmeter to check the levels.

Temperatures never go above 30°C and i keep them outside in the summer.
In winter time the night temps might drop to 5°C.

Every cage has a lots of living plants and branches and moss at the bottom.

I mostly keep them in pairs or groups, but not damaranum.
They are almost impossible to breed when kept single, brady females get so aggressive, especially transvaalense.

46x46x92 for a pair, sigles are in 40x40x76.
I don't have any trios of trans together, but if i'd keep 3 in one, it would be the largest cage 61x61x122.
Transvaalense is much bigger than thamnobates..

I keep my tranvaalesne in individual cages that are 46cm 46cm 91cm and the female is getting very nasty tempered. But they are 6 months old so it is too late to put them together or they will breed now.:(

Thank you so much for sharing both your pictures and your knowledge. I'm not as familiar with these species so it's wonderful to learn something new!

How do you get the night temp so low? I want to get one. They seem easy to keep I just can't provide the drop
