My cham has a purple buling left eye for a week. She is on hunger strike for a week now.

My cham has a left bulging purple eye for a week and is on hunger strike. Having to force feed her. She is lathargic. Going to add sum vitamin A and rub in a worm to see if it helps. Any ideas. Nearest exotic vet is 5hrs away.

I agree with Jann, she definitely needs a vet, likely had something stuck and has possibly turned into an infection from the look of it. Either way vet very important and Jann knows far too many good vets XD

It looks like she has other issues as well. She appears to have MBD and also she looks very gravid. The lack of proper calcium ratios effects the body's muscles in their ability to function properly. I don't know the age of the female when you got her..but she could be carrying a viable clutch or she could just be carrying slugs. Either way, she needs to expel them properly before other issues occur like peritonitis.

I agree with you now that I look back at her picture more closely. It does definitely look like she's gravid of some sort. Not positive about MBD? Better picture may help with that? Where do you see MBD?

I was thinking that was it, I would likely agree with you, just want another better picture of it to make sure. But if it's doing what I think it is, it looks like a pretty bad break or folding.

I had a chameleon's eye do that. It was caused from an infection in her mouth and she needed antibiotics. I don't think that will clear up on its own.

There are several possibilities for swollen eyes...could be cancer, could be an infection, could be something in the eye. There isn't much option...she needs a vet. Definitely needs to lay the eggs too....if it's not too late. If she's past the point of laying them shell need surgery for that too. Not sure about the MBD but if she has that too she will need some liquid calcium gluconate or calcium sandoz until her bones are strong again. Calcium is also needed for muscles... So it may be playing a part in her egglaying problems.
