Okay so i didnt really know where to put this thread but heres the question how can i find my chameloen. Each day for the past 4 months ive been putting Ralphie outside every morning and bringing him back in every afternoon. He is always outside on a tree catching his pray. But today as i returned from school i checked the tree he was in and the places he usually wanders off too. Where can i find him do you believe a bird ate him? i live in LA i dont see any big birds around my area well some crows here and there but they dont even come near my home. Hes been missing since 5 pm that i know. Any places chameloens like to wander off to?Has this happened to anyone and they found their cham? I dont even want to think of getting another one.:(

I would say this practice as a whole is frowned uponed. There is no way to know where he's gone, especially if you had him out all day....

bad practices aside-- look for him at night with a bright spot light. check local trees in and bushes and move out radially from the point you had last seen him.

best of luck. hope you find him

Ugh i know i messt up and its too late to go to the neighbors yard i guess ill have to search early in the morning.

Total bummer.
As was suggested, your best bet is to look after dark because it's easier to spot them in their lighter, sleeping colors amongst the leaves.

Hope he turns up okay.

damn that sucks, yes look for him at night when hes asleep. Get as much people as u can to help!. that sucks i hope you find him i wonder what hes up to

Chams regularly go into low bushes near where you left him, or a higher perch.

Spend several minutes moving the bushes, looking at different angles.

got to find him quick, i see your in los angeles, the weather is good for him right now and should be able to catch food but im concerned about water, he doesnt have any where to get water.

I hate to say it but do not rule out a bird or possibly some other animal getting ahold of him like a cat. I am sorry you lost him and hope he will turn up. In the future, I would never leave him (or any other) chameleon unattended. If you are going to keep them outside and you cannot monitor them, they really need to be caged.

Been in this same boat twice in the past 6 moths.

First time, my cham escaped from a home made outdoor screen cage i built that i didn't realized had a hole in it until he got out; looked for him for two weeks straight; day and night; i still hope i find him once the fall rolls around and there won't be as much leaves on the trees/bushes for him to hide in.

Another cham i had outside, i placed on a tree and mockingbird swooped in and took him right off a branch just a few feet from where i was standing. Needless to say, he didn't make it.:(

If you want to take your cham outside, get yourself a reptibreeze cage, since they're mobile and secure.
