My chameleon fell a few inches, not moving a lot and won't open his eyes.

He only took a 10" fall? My Cham got a little greedy today and when I opens his cage to feed him he came running out and reached for my hand and didnt get a good grip. He fell almost 4 feet and was just fine, even eat 30 seconds later. I can't imagine a Cham getting that hurt from such a short fall. Did he get pinched in the drawer? It just don't sound right. Sorry for the mishap, and even more sorry to say from looking at the pix it dosent look good at all.

This is why I listed broken back/neck as a possibilty.
I have seen them drop 3 ft onto concrete head first, and get up and walk off.

I dont see anyway for this to not be a serious injury at this point.

also he pooped shortly after falling

are you sure he didn't die on impact and what you are seeing are post-mortem actions? you said you can see him still breathing so thats a good thing but bowels releasing is a classic sign of death :(

10 inches sounds very short...my chameleons have "leapt" from my hand and fallen 2+ feet without even blinking

did he just happen to land in a really bad way...or was it more than 10 inches...

he landed on his side, he landed on top of the dresser, flat surface, he's still breathing though so that's good.

This is true. I have seen animals killed at slaughter houses and they almost always dedicate post mortem

sorry to hear about your freak accident. i myself have dealt with a cham falling 3+ feet on its back and being perfectly fine.. after reading the posts it seems the fall wasn't what did it. could he have possibly shot for something in your room that he shouldn't have eaten? maybe poison? the only way now to find out is if you were to open him up.. really sorry to hear about your loss.
