I did not know chameleons only live to be 5 years old. Mine is dying right now I believe of old age. They turn white and lethargic before they die. The guy at the pet store told me they live to be a hundred. I don't have the heart to buy another one if he's only going to live five years.

Sorry to hear that but, You believed they live to be 100 yrs old? Come on now..
I'm sorry you have to go thru this I hope his passing is peaceful. If he seems to be having a rough time the vet could end his suffering.
@Panthro413 the pet store probably confused tortoises and chameleons. They handle too many species to know any well.

I know, right? This idiot told me when I first got him. I thought it sound kind of crazy. This guy worked at the pet store and sounded like he knew everything about them. I never looked into it until he got sick.

From what I understand,veiledchameleons rarely make it past seven. Females five sorry you have to deal with his/her passing.

Yes, he passed away. I held him, kept him warm. He died warm and lived. RIP Chester.
