My Chameleon isn't eating!!

I have a veiled chameleon and he's about 2 months old. He is very small. Even smaller than my thumb. At the store, they told me to get a box of crickets and feed him 5 crickets a day, but he did not eat all of them. In the beginning, I noticed that some of the crickets were bigger than his head which is probably why he didn't eat much, but now I only feed him small crickets and he only eats about 1 or 2 a day. What do I do?

For an immediate fix, try waxworms, readily available most stores.

As soon as possible get some hornworms from Josh's Frogs- at least they will keep him hydrated and they come in a container that doubles as their cage and food source so no need to do anything- do NOT refrigerate them. I say Josh's frogs because they are the right size for sure (only 1 size they offer)

Depending on where you live you may be able to find some bugs outside (if you live someplace without winter)- but could be risky- try to go hiking at least a couple hundred yards away from houses to avoid potential pesticide exposure. Obviously might need a butterfly net or aquarum net and something to bring them home in. I'm sure you can use common sense, nothing like centipedes or something that could be harmful... grasshoppers and things. Wild bugs have micronutrients that feeders don't.

Anyway just get his engine stoked and food in him and he should come around.

Of course, fill out the form (search the site for FAQ) so we can see what you are doing as far as his enclosure (temp/misting/UV/ etc. etc.)
Fill out that form ASAP.

What's the basking temperature in his cage? If he can't warm up irmis way too warm he won't eat. At that age he should be eating about a dozen appropriately sized crickets a day.

Make sure your lighting is proper and temperature this is important to matabalize and digest food
