sometimes I look over and it looks like he's smacking his lips he opens his mouth, puts his tongue to the roof of his mouth, pulls it away and closes his mouth, is this normal behavior, or a sign of well... anything?
My Chameleon smacks his lips?

I've always taken this to mean they were taking in some of the moisture in the air...

I was just mainly worried if it was abnormal for him to do that, I see him doing it directly after eating so I suspected as much as what you said, but I was not completely sure

OH I didn't realize it was right after eating... That is completely normal... I suspect he also engorges his chin?... This is simply him swallowing... Chams are able to use their tongue pretty successfully when it comes to movement inside their mouths... When they retract their tongue its like a machine that they use to grind their food against their teeth and it moves the food backwards down the gullet like a huge muscle... Completely normal
