my charlie is a fighter

I rescued Charlie from petsmart because he was very sick and i was afraid he would die there. He has MBD, a fungal infection that has caused him to lose the tip of his back toe and his left eye is mis-shaped so he is partially blind in that eye as well as the depth perception being way off. he is 7 months old and only weighs 22 grams and he is the size of a 3 month old. he is currently on meds for his eye and foot. he gets calcium with D3 twice a month and regular calcium every other day as well as a vitamin supplement. My daughters Chameleon is his sister and she weighs 98 grams at 7 months. i knew when i got him it was going to be a challenge and i dont regret rescuing him. He loves to cuddle in my hand a go to sleep. he loves the attention he gets as well as when i wrap him in a warm washcloth. his wet and i are working on trying to get him as well as we can. i can honestly say that Petsmart does not take care of their reptiles.

Respectfully, you couldn’t be more wrong.

Charlie does not love to cuddle.

Charlie does not love being wrapped up in a towel.

Charlie is not enjoying a nap while in your hand, he is shutting down from the extreme stress your putting him under.

If you truly want to “rescue” him your going to need to do a lot of reading up on Cham husbandry. As of now all you’ve done for Charlie is taken him out of the pot and put him into the fire.

You dont know me . You don't know hin. You dont know the fight I have been through in the past 6 weeks to save him. Nor do you know how much he is fighting and his will to live. I reached out on this website to try and get some support for my sick chameleon and I fell like I've been attacked and mad to feel like crap for it. PLEASE DEACTIVATE MY ACCOUNT. I WILL NOT BE BACK.

You were not even slightly attacked. @Brodybreaux25 was just trying to help. He is extremely knowledgeable and is trying to help you do what is best for your Cham.

Maybe. But let’s not turn this into a thread like the other day (not accusing anyone of anything just saying it’s not useful to keep commenting here) You gave your advice that’s all you can really do. It’s up to the op weather to accept your advice or not. Hopefully if they aren’t just trolling and want to do what’s best they will come back and seek help.

@Brodybreaux25 ,
Even though there is potential this post can be a troll. I still think it would be beneficial if you used a little more tact. Sometimes your post can come across as very harsh and can make someone non-receptive to the knowledge you have. I read these forums everyday and I have a lot of respect for your knowledge. You have the ability to help out so many people in this lifestyle we all love. Your one of the more knowledgeable and respected members on here, use that to make an impact in a positive way. Just sometimes you come across a lil strong and can make people defensive.

I feel the response from Brodybreaux25 was very appropriate. No need to sugar coat anything. Great advice given without any BS to go with it. Obviously the OP was looking for a response, and they got one. Kids have no idea how to listen to advice when it doesn’t coincide with their own opinions. The last few days have been frustrating with the “troll like” posts. I’ll just chalk it up to snowflake culture instead of believing one individual is causing such an uproar.

Well I believe the advice was great and I agree with everything stated. But I’m saying that tact is important when trying to help someone. Last thing we would want is someone to leave this great resource because they took a response badly. Just remember everyone learns at a different pace but everyone wants to feel respected.

I somewhat agree with this. I just think we all myself included need to work on how we interact with others online. We need to remember that as a new Cham owner it can be very stressfull trying to make sure your doing the right thing. Some people have a harder time accepting constructive criticism and feel like they are being attacked. Especially if you are already stressed and you believe you are doing the right thing it can be hard to see what you are doing wrong.

I think @Brodybreaux25 response was just fine. I don't think that he was tactless at all. He was to the point and if he had not posted there would have been a half a dozen other posts. All commenting about the fact that Charlie is not enjoying the things that the OP is doing and how harmful it is.

There was nothing negative about it. He was simply saying that no the cham does not enjoy A,B,and C. That the OP needs to continue to learn and that there are resources here for them. Then included the help form. They have a very sick Cham that will need a lot of rehab to pull through.

So why is pointing out that wrapping it in a warm wet towel and the fact that the cham is falling asleep in their hand not a good thing? These are things that are not going to help the cham but just stress it's system out even more.

Yes, the OP immediately took offense but why did they... I think their response was more about the fact that it was pointed out that they were incorrect assuming that Charlie loves these things and that they were good for him. They came at it from an emotional reaction rather than learning from the feedback and responding to the help form.

Couldn't agree with this more.

Same with your post @Beman

Id like to see pictures of this chameleon "feeling" all this "love". Only thing a chameleon feels is horny, angry, moody, curious, hungry, full, warm, cold, and pain. Come to think of it that's still a lot of feelings but "love" is not one of them.

Its hard to see people's feeling thru the writing hand...everyone have their own feeling !! I can understand both view from the OP and Brodybreaux25....all I can suggest is try to picture urself in others view...sometimes its hard to learn to understand rather than immediately judge or to be judged.and this goes to Alphakenc myself ...lets just to learn how to all get along...after all this is a forum....if we cant even get along in here...how we suppose to get along in the real world out there...life is very short to be not Happy.....

Totally agree. I hope nobody takes anything I said here the wrong way. I 100% agree with everything brodybreaux25 said there was nothing wrong with what he said or how he said it. but I can also see how someone might take it the wrong way. I just didnt want to see this thread escalate into an argument or people making fun of the op.

I get where people are coming from that it's important to get things across in a positive manner, for the sake of the chameleon. But we're at the point, where any piece of advice is thrown in our face. People get defensive over nothing. I've seen members get rude for no reason, but idt brody was doing that. He was just giving a real response and the person freaked. This tells me they're either a troll or someone that won't listen to begin with. Idk how I feel about toning it down, just to feed into that behavior. I mean... what else is he supposed to say?
