I have recently gotten a pair of yemen chams. They have not had a name and I got alot of good advice here on care and a few other things!

I wanted to ask, has anyone else had a yemen picky over how they eat? Is this a problem? Here is a piece of an updated post I have on the breeding section.

On an odd note.. As I previously stated I had trouble getting her to eat anything accept wax worms. Well seems she loves my 3 1/2 yr old daughter. When the vet was here he mentioned about how relaxed she was with my daughter and as a test we let her hand feed the female... she wolfed a locust right from my daughter!! Wouldn't take one from me or the vet.. but then took another from my daughter! Odd but great news!!! My daughter is thrilled to bits and has since named her Annabel. hehe [end quote]

Has anyone else had this situation with them eating? She won't hunt for them either. Only takes locust if my daughter gives them.

How old are they? Veileds and many other species can be very picky eaters or go on hunger strikes. Try something unusual like flies or hornworms. I have one male that is a constant battle. I have to change up his food every week or so. I've got another veiled male that eats anything and everything, so..go figure! Good luck. David

Thanks David
She is 18 months and has only turned picky since I have had her. (Less then a month) I have tried several things and she is just funny. hehe but not with my little one feeding her. :D
Got to love them!!!!

Can you get hornworms or bot fly pupae there? For some reason, they usually go nuts for both of these. Their both kind of a hassle though. The hornworms grow from about a half an inch to about 4 inches and as big around as your little finger in about a week or so and you have to learn how to time the hatching of the flies. Each of my chams can eat 30 or 40 flies a day also. If you can get them, be sure and get the bot flies instead of the house flies. Bottle flies are about 3 times the size of house flies. Good luck and let me know how they do. David
