My first 2 chameleon’s !

Hi everyone! My name is corey and I’ve recently gotten into reptile keeping. I wanted to just show off my guy and girl chameleon, and there current enclosures!

My Piebald Vield Chameleon : Milly

Milly is a 5 month Piebald Chameleon and I received her when she was around 3 months old (I’ll have a picture of her down below.) She is my first ever chameleon and reptile that I’ve owed. I currently have her in a 30 Gallon take for the mean time, I’m working on getting a taller Zoomed hybrid cage for my other chameleon so I can move her over to the mesh cage I currently have my make in.

I recently just bought my 2nd chameleon and I decided to go with a panther chameleon, or know as (Furcifer pardalis). His name
Is Blaze, we got his name from his amazing golden colors, and he is a very very fast 4 month year old Chameleon . His set up is brand new as I just remolded his entire enclosure, I’ll post pictures to his set up too.

As you can see his colors are just amazing to look at, he is still getting adjusted to his new enclosure, but I have both Milly and Blaze on cricket’s and medium size meal worms, i sever them a daily calcium without D3, and both have a misting, sleeping, and eating schedule.

I love the piebald veileds...but truly, I love all chameleons!

Just wondering if you know that female veileds and some other species can lay eggs without being mated and that if you overfeed them they will develop reproductive problems and likely die?
You need to make sure they have a proper laybin in the cage once they get their mature colors. The reproductive issues can be prevented by proper husbandry, diet and temperatures though.

Hi and welcome! Beautiful chams! I love piebalds. I’m horrible at sexing panthers, but I too think you have a pretty little girl. While the colors of male panthers are beautiful, I think the ladies are absolutely stunning in their pinks and peachy colors.
Yes, you will want to move your pied girl into a tall enclosure ASAP. While correct husbandry is essential for all chameleons, it’s even more so for the girls because of their egg laying. Unfortunately there’s a ton of incorrect and outdated care info all over the internet and most pet stores offer the worst care advice. Usually just play sand in a decent sized container (at least 12x12”) to a depth of 6” is perfect. The sand/soil needs to be kept moist enough to hold a tunnel without collapsing. These may help.

Welcome on here and to the world of chameleons, and congrats!

I would wait off on mating both until you’ve mastered their care and can afford to have babies, it’s a lot of work and a lot of money.

Sadly, there are some husbandry issues with your feeding and supplementing and with your veileds’ cage. If you wouldn’t mind filling out this form in as much detail as possible for each cham (including adding pics of each cham’s entire cage and lights), that’d be great! This way we can help you give your chams their best lives possible! Make sure to read through every module on The Chameleon Academy that @MissSkittles posted.

Here is some recommended information to include when asking for help in the health clinic forum. By providing this information you will receive more accurate and beneficial responses. It might not be necessary to answer all these questions, but the more you provide the better. Please remember that even the most knowledgeable person can only guess at what your problem may be. Only an experienced reptile veterinarian who can directly examine your animal can give a true diagnosis of your chameleon's health.


Chameleon Info:

• Your Chameleon - The species, sex, and age of your chameleon. How long has it been in your care?
• Handling - How often do you handle your chameleon?
• Feeding - What are you feeding your cham? What amount? What is the schedule? How are you gut-loading your feeders?
• Supplements - What brand and type of calcium and vitamin products are you dusting your feeders with and what is the schedule?
• Watering - What kind of watering technique do you use? How often and how long to you mist? Do you see your chameleon drinking?
• Fecal Description - Briefly note colors and consistency from recent droppings. Has this chameleon ever been tested for parasites?
• History - Any previous information about your cham that might be useful to others when trying to help you.

Cage Info:

• Cage Type - Describe your cage (Glass, Screen, Combo?) What are the dimensions?
• Lighting - What brand, model, and types of lighting are you using? What is your daily lighting schedule?
• Temperature - What temp range have you created (cage floor to basking spot)? Lowest overnight temp? How do you measure these temps?
• Humidity - What are your humidity levels? How are you creating and maintaining these levels? What do you use to measure humidity?
• Plants - Are you using live plants? If so, what kind?
• Placement - Where is your cage located? Is it near any fans, air vents, or high traffic areas? At what height is the top of the cage relative to your room floor?
• Location - Where are you geographically located?

Current Problem - The current problem you are concerned about.
