My first chameleon

Looks pretty bright in there! What types of lighting do you have? (Only see one from the top view, but looks bright, so not sure if you moved one for the pic?) He looks so cute in there! :D I'd try to add one vine across the top of the enclosure. This would give him more paths to move around on and allow you to attach more plants for shelter and security. I want a Nosy Be now . (Just don't have a place for him )

I have a reptisun 10.0 and a heat lamp with a regular CFL not sure of the wattage but It's 14watt If I remember right, I plan on adding a live potted plant. Any ones better then others for chams? Need one with semi big leaves to catch water droplets, I wasn't planning on adding more horizontal vines/branches but I'll add a few of those as well. Do you think it's too bright for him? The heat lamp isn't on all the time just had it on for the pictures that's whats causing most of the brightness.

I need a name!

For now my little guy is nameless and I just cant think of a good name, So I need your guys help what do you think his name should be? :) I have a few in mind but not sure so far I have:

Godzilla

Baloo (from a jungle book)

Jedi

Rango(not too fond of that one)

Bolt

Rufus

and that's all I got, so if you all have any good names in mind feel free to share:D

Thanks Ill take any tips and advice you guys give that's why i'm here, I was going to add a potted plant just wondering what ones you would use?

I'm bad with names (for lizards) but if you are after a broad leaf plant then Pothos is what I would recommend. Nobody ever has problems with schefflera either, and the chams do seem to like it.

I don't think its too bright, just makin' sure there was a UVB source. I have had success with my golden pothos that I have in my enclosure. It seems to really hold the water droplets longer than the fake ones. Here's a link to my thread about them. https://www.chameleonforums.com/golden-pothos-101158/ Just to give you an idea of what they look like. As for the heat lamp, make sure its on long enough for proper digestion! As long as the basking temps are good and your boy has enough places to escape from the higher temps and bright lights, he should be fine. Here is a link to my lighting blog. https://www.chameleonforums.com/blogs/decadancin/754-winter-lighting-schedule.html It is for a veiled, but you can get some ideas ;). As for his name, I do like Baloo! :)

Just re-read your reply. I would use a regular incandescent bulb for the basking. Try a 60 watt and see what temp you get. You can either move the bulb to adjust the temp, or try a different wattage ;). CFL's don't really work for basking. Do you know what his basking temp is?

Congratulations.

Don't be too concerned if you don't see him drink. I've never seen my baby drink. Just watch his urates and make sure his little casque looks nice and plump.

Baby chams are on the very bottom end of the food chain and they don't want to do anything but sit still when the big hairless apes are watching.

My baby won't even eat if I'm looking at him. The minute I turn my head he'll grab a cricket and if I watch him he just sits there with the cricket in his mouth.

I took your advice and put in an incandescent and the basking temp is about 89 or so, also I will be getting a pothos this weekend if all goes to plan also I just got a little dripper and some meal worms for my little dude

Yeah I'm starting to relax a bit about him drinking been checking his urates and white every time so I'm starting to be at ease now, Mine wont eat if im watching him either even if its right infront of him. He just stares at me waiting for me to leave lol

New name ideas

So I got a few new name ideas for you guys:

Mojo

Reptar

Voodoo

Loki

Zeus

Hades

That's all I can think of for now I hate leaving him nameless,

Also other news I picked up a little dripper and some mealworms going to get a potted plant or two this weekend and some bamboo to put across the top of his cage to make it easier for him to get around. And after looking at the how to sex a panther chameleon thread I've wondered if mine really is a boy? I mean the breeder told me it was a boy and he should know right? Just trying to determine if i should snap a few pics of him to see about a second opinion from you all to see if he really is a male.

Finally picked a name

I decided to name him Azul spanish for blue. Also I finally saw him drink which takes a lot off my mind, getting more plants either today or tomorrow.
