My First Veiled eggs

Got a surprise today when I got home from work and discovered that Peggy has started to lay eggs. No warning that she was close or anything. She was still eating yesterday and this morning before I left for work she was still sitting up in the top of the branches.
I moved her over to her laying bin so she has a place to dig proper and lay the rest of the eggs. She dug a hole in her cage in the pot plant and laid 4 eggs there. I am so excited to have my first clutch of eggs.

rule one......

Dont move a female cham... can put her off and make her become egg bound.

My recommendation is..... Try to cover her cage so she cannot see you or any distractions!!!! She will eventually lay the rest of the clutch :)

As mentioned before...dont move your chameleon anymore while she is in the process of laying. Sometimes they stay overnight in their holes and continue the next morning. Also..if the chameleons cage is in a high traffic room..meaning people come and go out of that room a lot...it is best to cover up the cage with a bed sheet or so.
Also..make sure you have some vermiculite ready to go when she lays so you can incubate the eggs. How do you plan on incubating the eggs? Good luck. I hope she lays with no problems for you.

The chameleon should lay all her eggs at once in a hole that she has dug to her satisfaction. She should then fill the hole in and tamp down the substrate and return to the branches. You should leave her alone and not move her or let her see you watching her during this process. When she is done filling the hole in and has gone back to her branches then you can worry about digging the eggs up. Make sure that after she has laid them that you water and feed her well for a couple of days and then cut back on the feeding to keep the next clutch small.

Things are going good with her now. You guys scared me with the talk of moving her while in the process of laying, but luckily it turned out good. She started digging a hole in the laying bin this morning and she is still digging, but just one thing concerns me. She goes to the hole digs, but then she goes back up the branches lays two eggs or so and then goes back to the hole and continues to dig. Is there something wrong or can it just be inexperience?

Is the medium moist enough? Usually they 'know' what to do and just get on with it. My first female laid her first clutch of infertiles in about 13 hours and she laid 104 eggs!

Thanks miss Lily! I took the spray bottle and sprayed a bit more where she was digging and it worked she started laying her eggs in the hole and as I am typing this she is still busy laying. Looks like I have about 50 eggs at the moment, but will post the final tally when she is done and I dug up the eggs.
