Good grief 38 inches is a bit of an exaggeration.

They are big though- about 20-24" for an adult. really big adults a little more perhaps. I've read rumors of 28 but don't know if I believe that.

The are the largest african species. The madagascan giants Parsons and male oustallets can outsize them.

Is that total length or snout to vent?

That's huge compared to my tiny jackson. Id love to have a melleri or parsons one day.
