My guys doing laps

around his cage. Guess him staying in one place would be a bad thing, right ?
he goes from top to bottom, specially when we (my family) are eating dinner. He comes around n watches, guess he wants to be part of the crowd. But the "doing laps" thing is normal right ?

It is very normal for a male to do laps around his cage. They are simply checking for any intruders in their territory. I would be much more concerned if he just sat around all the time. My male will walk his entire cage several times each day. He rarely sits in the same place for more than 5 minutes at a time. It seems that this behavior is even more common when they are looking for a mate, especially if they have had a glimpse of a female.

figured he was normal. he hasn't seen any females tho, so who knows about his, desires lol. I've been feeding him in a container in one spot, thinking bout starting him up on hunting, think its a good idea, or go with what he knows?

I like to change it up. I will cup feed the Dubia and worms, but I free range crickets and flies. It think it is good for them to hunt rather than rely only on being cup fed. For me the decision is based entirely on the behavior of the feeder. Since dubia tend to hide I do not free range them, while the crickets tend to be more active and climb all over the cage.

I get blue bottle fly larvae for the adults. They LOVE them! They are constantly moving and flying around the cage, while staying near the top (they are attracted to the lights. It gives them something to hunt and the chams get very excited by the flying.

I get them from Mantisplace.com. I order the blue bottle fly pupae (I can't stand the maggots or "spikes"). They are listed under feeder insects. I also order the cup-o-flies from them. It has everything you need to easily let them hatch, eat, and then feed them to your chams.

The pupae can be kept in the fridge until you are ready to let them hatch. Then you just take out how ever many you want and let them sit out, in a container, until they hatch. Make sure they have a water source and food , I use blue bottle fly food from the same place, and feed them to your chams. I put mine in freezer for about 90 seconds before feeding them to my chams. This slows them down for a little while, so they do not fly all over as soon as I open container.
