My anole escaped 2 days ago and todaY i saw my chameleon crunching on it and befor icould stop him, he ate him. I know chams eat some big stuff, i feed mine pinkies on occasion, i was just wondering if there is anything particular i should do or watch out for after he has eaten him

PS. i cant figure out how the hell the anole got into the cage lol

alot of times anoles have parasites, so you should probably get a fecal done to make sure you chameleon has not gotten any parasites.

oh no thats not a worry, i do fecals on all my reptiles (even cheap ass anoles) and the anole was negative. Either way my next legit fecal ( i usually do them myself with my microscope and have even caught 2 cases of worms and have never missed one. but once a year I go to the vet and get a full exam and thats in 3 weeks, but im very sure he had no parasites

Good to hear! Usually anoles carry parasites so its good you had that out of the question!

Wow. Chams... you gotta love em, lol. I can't imagine having one of my pets eat another one though. I can tell my cat keeps thinking about eating my lizards, and I'm about to kick her butt out for it. Lol

Haha, is your cat declawed? If so, your cham can take it on. ;)

My chameleon has eaten some too. None that were my pet though! There have been about 4 i know of and the rest...well who knows as his outdoor cage has them in there all the time. i try and shoo them out but I am sure he gets one every once in awhile. I try not to think about it!

lol, its kinda ironic. That anole had destroyed 4 uv FIXTURES (VERY long story) and kill 2 female anoles, bit a chunk off my finger, and grew to an immense size. The only reason i kept him is that his babies had a mortality rate of only 20% (average mortality rate of babies for green anoles is 80% in the first month. so he made me some money, but he got his karma

Isn't this where we all sing "The Circle of Life"?

Yes!! Lol

Haha no, she's not. I actually don't let her in the rooms where I keep my chams so she won't stress them out. Idk about my boys, but if the cat ever did get near my female veiled, it would be the last time she thought about messing with a lizard, lol. Kasaya is pretty intense - she'll bite your hand off. Lol

I do sometimes let the cat in the room where my bearded dragon is (only when I'm there). It's so cute to see the cat staring at the lizard through the glass and my little 3.5 month old beardie gaping at her and trying to be scary. Adorable, lol :)
