My new babies!

I have 3 new babies I hatched from eggs. I've been trying to figure out how to show them. I can't get one of the pics to flip.

Hope this works!

Congrats on your new babies! That one it a little cutie. The runt that's not eating much, I would separated from the others so he will have a better chance to eat. I also recommend taking his poop in to the vets to be tested for parasites. Parasite can keep them from growing.

All 3 are in separate enclosures. How could he have a parasite? I'm curious.

He sort of exploded from the egg when we weren't looking. I helped the other two, but the runt came out on his back, arms & legs sprawled out like he was gasping for air. He looked wrong from birth.

If I took his fecal to a vet & they found something, what would I give him? He's just so tiny! Poor little thing. :(

My two little runt boys Amos and Andy weren't growing and a fecal found they were loaded with cociddia, one of the worst parasites. Once I got them clean they stared eating but they will never be the size of my other male veileds. They get parasites from the feeders that they eat. The vet would give you the proper meds depending on what parasite he has if any. it's just a good idea to get him checked IMO.

Thanks Jan. today, we finally force fed him. I can't tell you how difficult that was! He is so tiny, I could barely hold him. We finally had to squash a tiny bean beetle & I used my pinky fingernail to pry his mouth open.

He's only about 2-3 inches in total length. I'm thinking he's too far gone by now. We were really hoping he would rally, but he's just not growing at all.

I've searched his cage but can't find a fecal. Just too tiny. I have no idea how he's still alive.
The only thing he was given were fruit flies, which I got from creating my own culture. Then I bought some bean beetles from Nick.

We've never seen this little guy eat. He keeps his eyes closed most of the time, so we've always thought he was born blind.

If I could save him, I wouldn't care what he looked like or how big. Just hoping he'll pull through somehow.

Did you hatch your two little runts yourself?

My goodness, look at that cutie! All of these pictures of new babies has me itching to buy a second cham already.

Have you tried keeping him outside allot of the time? I had a tiny preemie baby Elly that's eyes was very sensitivity to any UVB light and would keep her eyes closed allot when inside and not eating. When I took her outside in a small screen cage for hours at the time, in the shade around 80 to 82 degrees, she would open her eyes and eat. I think allot of outside time is the best thing you can do for him. I'll see if I can find you a link about my Elly.

No, I didn't hatch my runts but they are my first veileds great grands. :)

Wow, Jan. those pics are incredible. Told my husband I'm just going to keep trying to force feed a lot. To be honest, I was afraid to up till now.

I had to force My wild caught, Mugsy, to take food & vitamins after a trip to the vet. He died soon after. I know now that he was just too stressed from his being caught ordeal, but as a brand new Cham owner I thought I made it worse. He only lived a month after he arrived. I learned a hard lesson with that one. :(

Thanks so much for all your help & encouragement. I'll keep you posted.

Btw, would it even be possible for a hatchling to get a parasite from a fruit fly that didn't come from a pet store?

Thank you for the complement on Elly's pictures. She was a cutie and I loved her dearly. I am not sure if fruit flies have parasites or not. I know crickets can. Best of luck with your little guy. I never had to force feed Elly. Do you have some food from the vet? If not you can buy some Reptiboost at the pet store and that works well to boost them back up.

I have this stuff the vet gave me that you're supposed to mix with electrolyts but he's too little.
Yesterday, I gave him a dusted bean beetle.
All he's ever eaten would be fruit flies & beetles.
I put crickets in his cage a couple weeks ago, but I'm sure he never crawled down to get them.
By the time I started giving crickets, he was already 3 weeks old & staying in the top of the cage on the screen.

After seeing your pics of Elly, I realized I need to raise the uv light. He's way too close. What a miracle it will be if he survives!

When they are tiny like that the lights can really bother their eyes. That could be why he's closing them and with his eyes closed he can't eat. I even use an older UVB light that's not putting out that much UVB...only like around 8.
