my new cage

Today my boss decided to close early. So having some free time i drove to the nursery i picked up my plants. I got some manzanita, tree mallow, heavenly bamboo, star jasmine, and a pothos. One of each for each enclosure. I still need to get some organic soil and repot all my plants. But in the mean time i put them in the enclosure to get a feel of the finished project.

Do you have any drains in the bottom for the water to drain out of? I put 2" PVC drains in every cage base that way water doesnt collect in the bottom of it, it drains out.

Looks great

Your enclosure is looking awesome. How did you fab up the drain pan? I need to do something similar for my custom build and haven't been able to find anything off the shelf that will work and might have to copy your idea;)

I dont have any drains. Im going to use a small rc fuel pump to pump waste water from the cages in to a 5 gallon bucket then just toss that outside.

Wherein norcal are you anthony? Im in fairfield i could possibly make one for you. But anyways what i did was use 3/16" black abs. I tablesawed the bottom piece of the tray to my od. Then some 2" tall pieces for the sides. I used a little cyno-acrylite glue to actually build the tray, then some devcon plastic welder to bond it in to one.

Next time i make a tray i think ill use white abs so it brightens the lower part of the cage

Awesome enclosure. I wish I had the time and money to build something like that for my cham ;)

Thanks. The materials for the enclosure itself was not super expensive. Probably $150. What i learned was its everything else that you need that costs the real money. I spent $350 last week just on the inside stuff and lights and everything else my little buddies are going toneed.

i just need one more little dripper and repot my plants and ill be set.

Thanks for the offer but I'm up in Lincoln (a little north of Sac) and would burn too much gas coming to get it from you lol. I had thought about buying some cheap, small Rubbermaid containers from Walmart and then cutting them up to make them to the size I need but your idea is way better lol.

Excellent looking set up. You spent way more time, effort, and money on yours than I did. Not jealous, just couldn't do what you've done. Your chams will be in heaven. Lol

Yeah that would be a bit of a drive for a tray. But if you have the capability to make one ithink you would be happier than hacking up some rubbermaids.

Where did you find your abs? I went to my local Lowes and Home Depot but the closest thing they had was 12" x 24" lexan sheets for around $15/each which was way pricier than I had thought...

I use both of the fluckers Crix items, the repticalcium, and the wipe off are very good in my opinion.

I got my abs from work. I do thermoforming and have access to sheets of plastic. Thats kinda the reason i offered to build a tray for ya. And yes plastic is very expensive from either one of these stores.
