My new guy

Just wanted to post some pictures of my new guy. I just got him today and he is 4.5 months old. When I took him out of the box he was all fired up from a pretty rough ride. The actual styrofoam was cracked in half on two sides, also the styrofoam lid was cracked in half. The scary part was the lid to his cup was also cracked from damage and open when I uncovered him. I took two quick pictures since I did not want to stress him out any more. I put him right into his enclosure, he started drinking right away and went up to one spot and stay there drinking for around 5 minutes. He did not move from that spot for about and hour, but now is much lighter in color and looks to be heading to his basking spot. Here they are, as you can tell he is not happy one bit.

Quick question. Does it mean anything when he almost seems to pull his eyes into his head for a second? It's as if he pulls them in and the front of the skin surrounding the eye puffs out.

Poor baby, I'm so glad he made it okay and he is beautiful. Yes it is normal for them to do this with their eyes. You might wait a day and mist him with warm water from the top of the cage. If he doesn't freak out, try to get the mist around the top of his head. The water will help him clean out his eyes and hydrate them. Where did you get him from?

I got him from Chameleon Kingdom. They are a sponsor on this site. I must say Nic answered every question I sent his way and fast. great guy and business. He is looking much happier now! I am currently keeping my dogs out of the room he is in. I do not want to give him more stress then he already had. How does everyones chams react to dogs in the room? Mine don't bark and just lay around..lol..I have even had my bearded fall asleep on my one dog on the floor. Both just slept like that for an hour..lol

I have a Pomeranian and she is always under my feet. My chams don't seem to be bothered by her but they are alot higher up and she is so small. I would say as long as the cage is not where the dog can sit staring into it and the cham can see it, it should be okay. Just watch for stress signs. It will take him about a week to settle in and know it's okay.

I have a German Shepherd that is frequently in the same room as my cham's cage and he doesn't seem to notice she is there. But his cage is way above her eye level which I think is why neither are bothered.

Wow poor little man had a adventure!!

Like Draetish said give em a good mist and let him clean his eyes.

I have a toy poodle that follows me everywhere all of my guys just give him the good ole stink eye

Beautiful boy you have :)

Thanks for all the comments. I let the dogs in the room and neither the dogs cared nor hodgins. He is still puffing his eyes at times and even to the point of rubbing them on the branches. I have misted his cage with warm water twice now since that was suggested. The breeder thinks it might have something to do with the news paper since the lid to his cup was cracked and open.

He has not ate anything yet, but has been drinking. he was walked around his cage and basked most of the day under the lamp and is now sitting under the UVB tube. Cute guy though..I just sat and watched him most of the day.

when I first opened up the container he was bringing out all the red colors. I can't wait to see how this guy turns out when he gets older.

Today, he came up to bask. But when I came in the room I noticed he had his left eye shut while basking. I just gave a warm misting to him, he does not seem to like the mistings at all and runs off every time. I try to aim away from him and avoid him at all costs with it. But, I have read to be concerned if you see there eyes or eye shut during the day. Once I entered the room and made some noise he opened his eye.

Perhaps he has something in it and it's bothering him? Have you considered flushing it out?
