This might not be the right area for this thread but i have a couple of questions across a couple areas so i went with the general area.

My wife and myself got our first charm 4 months ago and we are thinking about getting another. I would like to keep them in the same habitat and i know it has to be large for two. I was thinking about making my own terrarium. my plan was a 6ft tall than in a L shape so the corner would be 2 squared feet and both the extensions of the center part of the L would be 2 ft squared. So first question is is this enough area for two jackson. We are going with two males since we arn't ready to start breeding. Also what would be the best plant to have in the habitat to fill it out fully, the hibiscus we have now seems to not be doing so well lots of black and brown spots but the ficus is good but not really filling the area. As for lighting we have our basking lamp 50w and uvb bulb and a 75-Watt Agro Plant Light BR30 Flood Light Bulb to help out the plants in the current habitat and i was going to double this for the new on. we where planning on getting a baby charm would that cause problems with the adult we have now. and finally questions what is a good seallent for the wood? And we live in hawaii near the shore line not the mountains were the jacks are from.

Thanks for our help all

Aloha braddah :)

Where you stay in Hawaii? My girlfriend and I just bought our cham <4 months ago too! Was wondering - do you live on Oahu, and if so - where'd you buy yours!?

I found a lot of the places to have chams in really poor health. We found ours at Koolau Pets at Windward mall. They had a good selection and we feel really lucky with our little guy. He never hisses, bites, or gets angry when we handle him. Perfect health too.

I would strongly recommend you go there if you ever gonna buy another!

I wish I could answer your questions but I'm still learning all this myself.

Goodluck :)

I wouldn't keep two of them in the same cage. Even if it's large, they will want to establish their own territory. I would build it with a divider in the center so you'd still have a nice display, but they animals wouldn't be in each other's space.
As far as plants, pothos is great for filling in space. I have hibiscus and pothos is my panther's cages, and they're doing pretty well. The hibiscus even flower on occasion. I use a T5 four bulb setup (3 6500k bulbs for plants and light and 1 10.0 Reptisun for UVB) and a regular incandescent bulb in a dome for basking.

Two male jax won't want to see each other. If they can see across the "L" they may display, dominate, or be submissive all the time. If you built the cage so the two sections are side by side with a visual barrier between them you won't have this problem.

Phinfan

I live in pearl city man i got my little guy at Kalihi Pet Center in Honolulu he is pretty good not the most friendly but dosn't hiss or bite of anything. He was close to adult when i got him. He runs and hides everythime we open the door to his cage unless he see the red solo cup filled with crickets haha. The new one we want to get him as a baby so hopefully he gets used to us being around him rather than growing up in a pet store.

As for the layout for the cage side by side with a divider and not a L is sounding the best option. I wanted the L design so it would allow for a bigger area for them to hang out in. As for sealant still haven't found anywhere to get a food grade wood sealant. If anyone has a good idea it would be big help.

I think theZoomed bulb you linked to isn't a T5, it's a T8 bulb. It can be confusing the way some of them are labeled.

If you're using a T5 fixture you'll want this bulb:http://www.petmountain.com/show_pro...m=Prod&utm_term=11442-580035&utm_campaign=PPC

Here's the quad T5 setup I use:
http://www.aquatraders.com/24-inch-4x24W-T5-Aquarium-Light-Digi-Timer-Fixture-p/52323p.htm
It comes with 4 6500k bulbs. I just swapped one out for the UVB bulb. It also has a built in timer and only one cord. I've been really happy with them, I have two and haven't had any problems. I don't use the "legs" that come with, I just set it on top of the cage. Also it comes with a plastic splash guard that slides in/out, you don't use that either, unless you want to cut a piece off and slide it in to have a UVB free area.

i just checked it out on aqua trader it 100$ shipping and handling to hawai haha thats the normal over here for anything from the mainland. I was trying to get of off amazon prime because its free shipping anywhere in us. good catch on the bulbs though.

Ouch!!! That's pretty steep for shipping and handling! I'm sure you can find a decent fixture on Amazon. I almost bought that same bulb at an expo, I was glad I noticed it didn't say T5. The HO label made me think it was a T5. I would've been peeved if I had brought it home.
