My Setup!

Chameleon: 5 Month Old Veiled (Have Yet To Purchase)
Cage: I have a 2x2x4' DIYCAGE
Plant: Gold Capella
Lighting: Reptisun 5.0 18" Bulb, 75W house bulb
Foilage: Not put in yet, Still adding another plant (Hibiscus)

Ok, So basically this is the simplest of cage setups however this is NOT near what I intend the cage to look like when I get the chameleon, I will have a drainage system set up in about an hour once I have the necessary tools to complete it, however, right now I am running tests as far as humidity/temperatures go at different points of the cage.

-My Test Results-

100W Basking Spot Bulb + AC + No Misting
High End - 91
Low End - 73/75
Humidity - 53%

The Lighting is about 1 1/2 Feet from where I intend the basking spot to be so he should not be close enough to get burned if his thermoregulation isn't so great at this stage.

NOTE: On a side note, I am considering buying a 75W Basking Spot Bulb, Maybe the focused beam will raise the temperature slightly in 1 spot to that of a regular housebulb.

Anyways, I would like all feedback if possible!

UVB rays can only penetrate so far. If you want your chameleon to be ~18 inches away from the lights, then you will need to by a UVB meter to make sure he is still receiving the correct amount of rays at his basking spot; ~6 inches between your chameleon and the lights is a safe enough distance, ~18 is a bit excessive. Your humidity (and possibly temperature) readings may/should change once you add in the remaining plants, vines and branches. You are doing a great job preparing in advance. Keep up the good work!

Ok thanks! I will raise some of the higher spots through the use of a taller plant and a vines. I purchased the 75W bulb to see if it has a greater effect, I would rather be safe than sorry =)

You can still achieve an accurate basking temperature by using a lower wattage bulb. I use a 45 watt bulb to get basking temperatures to a 91 degree reading and the bulb is about 5 inches away from the nearest branch.
