I have a Panther Chameleon about 8 months old. When he was a few months younger he had the same problem with his other eye. What happens is his eye crusts over and he cannot open or close his eye, once you clear his eye of the crust it has a gooey slimy substance in his eye. Previously with the other eye I used Turtle eye drops and it worked fine. It cleared his eye in a week or so. Now I have been trying to clean it and put those eyedrops in twice a day, and it has had no effect whatsoever. Does anybody know what this is going on in his eye, or any methods to clear it up. His other eye is clear as can be, so I dont understand why he is having this problem. Please help! Thanks, Erick:confused:

What is the humidity like? I had this problem with my veiled when I first got him, I raised the humidity and put him in the shower and he was fine. Hopefully it's not infection. Can you fill this out for us?

Have you not taken him to the vet to have the eye looked at?

Same thing happened with my guy, I got some Reptaid from Chameleons Northwest cleared it right up.

No I havent. Like I said when I bought him he had this problem in his right eye. I called Reptile Kingdom in Eugene Oregon "the place where I bought him" and Dave the owner told me to use Turtle Eye Drops and it worked fine (same problem). Dave the Owner has been in the reptile buisness forever and knows everything there is to know. So no need for a Vet yet. Like I said its the same problem. I was thinking maybe his light ruined the eye drops and I need to get something new.

What brand and type (spiral, compact, long linear tube, etc.) UVB light are you using?
What plants do you have in the cage?
