Careful ... From what I hear parsons are very susceptible to Mouth Problems that can kill them.

Looks like the start of Mouth Rot to me.

i heard from Dean Pulcini that they have a Parsons forum online. just specifically for Parsons chameleons keepers. maybe you could PM Dean about it? if u r not already a member????

i think thats a win win, i believe u can only be a member if u truely own a Parsons! not fair! id like to be on there and just read what these lucky people are talking about!:p

good luck and hope all the best for your guy!

This site is shut down for now.

I'm not a Vet.. but I would say the little guy has a mouth infection. I have a 3 year old male who has had this bacteria/virial from day one. Long term meds. (antibiotics) have helped, but have not eliminated the mouth problem. Usually as animals body sheds, the skin around the mouth has harder time seperating. This is when the nasty stuff gets a (most visible) chance to grow inbetween the new and old dead layer of skin. If left un-treated (this mouth rot) it has chance to spread to bone, and open the door to other health issues.
Here's are two pictures from day I received (3-27-07) my male, to one taken this morning (6-25-09) You can see the crusted lip in baby pic., and a little bit of crusty's from new shed where lips meet in the today pic.

WOW STEVE what stomatitis isn't curable ? or is that a different strain of bacteria? at any rate i'm sure thats pretty scary

Thanks all for your care about my baby...
In fact, he doesn't have the mouth infection problem, because he got some Respiratory infections one month ago. Now there are some black spots on his mouth area and it's a kind of plant medicine in green color...

Now he already recover and becomes larger and I put his new updated pics to share with all

:)

I would think a respiratory infection would make the possibility of a Mouth infection more probable.

We do appreciate you sharing your pics!! Thanks!
