My Reef Tank

I love reef tanks! I always wanted to have a salt water tank of my own! I love the vibrant species of fish you can add to it. What kind of fish are you adding to the tanks? or just strictly coral.

So jelouse! One of my dreams is to have a salt water set up... I attempted it but just got too expensive and couldn't finish it. I still have the coralife lights I never used and am trying to get rid of, lol! Beautiful!

I enjoy keeping mostly coral, anenomes and live rock. I do however, keep a few fish. Currently, I have a scopas tang, 2 ocellaris clowns, and a Royal Gramma.
Reef aquariums are so worth the investment. You just have to get your water chemistry right and from there it is typially smooth sailing. I also always quarantine fish in a hospital tank for weeks before they go into a reef.

Yeah No Job and No money makes it tough. They do require a lot of funds to be successfull. Stay positive and anything can happen.

I'll be PMing you LOTS when that time comes. I know everyone gets them but my favs are the blue yellow tailed Damsels and the clown fish, red and black ones though.

My 9th grade Biology Teacher had a salt water reef tank made out of a 10 gallon tank. It lasted for a long time too. I think 10 years? He eventually upgraded to a 55 gallon I believe.

Sounds good! Just ask anything. The blue yellow tail damsels are nice, but all damsels can be bullies. Therefore, they have a tendency to pick on other species of fish including their own. Clowns are a type of damsel but are more docile. Just introduce the clowns together and you should have no fighting issues.
As long as you take care of them they do well. I use 10 gallon tanks for my hospital/ quarantine tanks and they keep fish alive no problem.

Wow! Fantastic tank with some primo pieces! I really like your fuzzy looking Blastos and that odd colored Favia(?) behind it. Do you shop for your corals locally or mail order, too? If you ever do mailorder there's a shop close to me that specializes in high end corals. Owner's a super-nice guy, too. www.aquasd.com
My current reef tank started out as a 6 gallon for a couple of years. I moved up to a 26g about 10 years ago but still have frogspawn and Favia colonies from when it was the 6. Just have to know how the cycle works, be patient, and be proactive when issues arise.

When I found out about the 10 gallons being able to have a salt water habitat in it, I wanted to start one up, then.. I found out about chameleons.

I mail order my corals from vividaquariums.com. They are in LA, Cali. I love the blastos and the favia. They are my favorites, I also have a neon green carpet anenome, that is really cool. I will go check out aquasd.com. Thanks Kent! Also, you are right you have to be proactive and keep a keen eye on the tank. Problems can pop up in a hurry.

Eszzie, thanks for the compliments!!!!! It is like a piece of heaven in my bedroom. Especially at night when the LED lights kick on. It is unreal to see! The Red Sea Max is super silent and you can't even hear it running at night. The tanks are so peacefull to watch, they make you forget about all your problems.
Do not get me wrong they are a lot of work, but once the water chemistry is right and the tank is cycled properly you are bound to prevail. Just do not get crazy with fish, they can be problematic at times. I prefer to keep only 3 fish and mostly corals and anemones.

Seeing your tanks makes me envious of your income, lol. I have 2 reef tanks, a 40 and a 30 gallon tank. When I see your tanks I see serious money but very beautiful! And that doesn't even go into the energy costs to keep those corals that healthy, oo la la.
