My turn with the B. transvaalense

They are very beautiful Luis. Specially the second male, that is how they should be.

Did you get my PM?

Steven,

I did receive your PM, but it's been a bit busy before my vacation. Thanks for the advice on the senegalensis. Based on the size of the female and her general behavior when she sees the male, I think she is still a bit young so we are going to wait a month or two before trying it again. I will say though, the male is very excited to her across the room! :)

Back to the B. transvaalense. I had the younger male (first photo) out of his cage and he caught sight of the more colorful male. I was interested, so I carefully (no chance for contact at all) placed them within eye sight and the results were very interesting indeed. The head bobbing was fun to watch but what's best was the younger male quickly achieved a very similar pattern to the more colorful male and has kept the coloration since placing him back in his enclosure. It seems like the introduction of another male can make a young male "grow up" rather immediately. :p

I wasn't able to take any photo's but if the younger male still looks the same tomorrow, I will post them to show the difference. It's rather dramatic.

Luis
