HE JUST WANTS THE WAXWORMS :O....what do I do, i leave crickets in, and hold them in front of him, he will not go for them...they are my primary feeder, he has only had waxworms twice in his life and he is crazy about them :p...He's about a year.

Put a cricket in as usual ( I assume you dont usually hand feed). If he doesnt eat it by lights0out, remove it. Try again the next day. Eventually he will become hungry enough to eat the cricket.

Hopefully crickets and waxworms arent all that you are offering. Try mixing it up with butterworms, silkworms, roaches, etc - he'll be much less likely to get bored! :)

lol i do handfeed, he wont chase after anything anymore, i'm about to make a feeding cup tonight, i felt so bad after watching a cricket crawl all over him for a minute i just picked it out and fed it to the other...no where around here sells anything else but, fruit flies, meal worms, super worms, and wax worms, and crix of course, so thats about all he's eaten.

Is he able to hunt, or is there something wrong with him that you have to hand feed?

You can buy feeders online, if your local shops are lacking.

he is able to hunt, he runs around the cage like mad, ever since i moved him to his new cage, he just doesnt seem to care if anything is moving around in there with him, so i started holding the crickets, and he would eat every single one of them, now if i want him to hunt i have to place the cricket relatively close, but if the cricket falls to the bottom, it'll go thru the hardware cloth and fall into the drawer. Recently every time i've been trying to hand feed him, he just wants to climb all over me and go to my head :p. But he's perfectly healthy, just want him to quit being so picky and stubborn :p.

You said you moved him to a new cage. It may be that he is still trying to get use to his new surroundings and is more interested in checking it out instead of eating. If it were me, I would not offer him "anything" for 2 days, not even leaving a feeder cup in there and then see if he remembers that... Oh Yeah, this is what I've been missing - food! :D

lol he's been in it for 3-4 months i would hope he has checked it out enough :p.

Ummm, you didn't mention that it's been that long. Try not offering anything for a couple of days, not even a feeder cup and then bring on the grub, He'll think.....Wow, Easter Bunny came! :D

lol let's hope, he also looks super small to me compared to other veileds i've seen his age...he was the smallest of the clutch at the pet shop, are there "runt" chams? lol?

Actually, there are. It's like all animals, there is always a weaker one in the bunch that gets kicked out or sick.

I can atest to runts of the litter. I have one. His name is Zee. Look up my previous posts. He will be a year old on the 9th of this month and he is only about 8" long and very skinny, about 1/2 to 3/4 thick. He eats normally and is very healthy. He lives in a 4 foot by 4 foot by about 14" deep cage (my husband over compensated). Zee was born breach. I'll post some new pics of him on his b-day in 6 days. Here is a pic of him, it's not very recent but you can get an idea of how small he is.
