namaqua chameleon care sheet

So hello I'm chameleoncrazie and this is my first post and ill be posting a care sheet on namaqua chameleons. So here goes :

Size: its important to know the size of the of the chameleon your dealing with the namaqua gets around 25 inches or so.

Tank info and namaqua habitat: the namaqua are chameleons that live on the ground here in namibia where I stay, I often spot them relaxing in a desert plant or something similar and the cage must be made out of material mesh and the cage must be around 2.4 meters long on the ground.

Temp of the chameleon: the namaqua is very laid back chameleon but the female can be very aggressive when laying or caring eggs and over protective and when they turn black and hiss they are mad.

Diet: here in namibia they will eat tok tokies, ( that is the beetle people talk about in some namaqua threads ) moths, locusts, and occasionally lizards and scorpion but they aren't naccecery at al in captivity and in captivity they can eat roaches to.

Temperature: the coldest it get here is about 15 degrees celcius and the warmest it get here is about say 40 degrees celcuis.

Is the sand is very soft and truly lives up to the name of sand.

How deep in the sand do they lay the eggs and what would the temperature be there?

You're saying it's really important know the size of chameleon you're dealing with...please explain!

thanks for the question the sand should be about 4 - 5 inches deep the female will dig up to 3 inches and lay about 20 eggs witch will take 3 months to hatch the temperature for the eggs you get should be up to 30 degrees celcuis .

the size of the chameleon your dealing with is important because the size of the chameleon would give you the size of the vivarium or terrarium.

the temperature should be no less then 20 degrees celcuis.

Our Namaqua chameleons are dying on the roads leading out of swakopmund in the erongo region...I'm deeply concerned about this as I work as a freelance guide in this region ..and I wish to conserve this one of a kind chameleon...SOS!

This is not a joke ....I take nature conservation very seriously....these areas must be monitored...and awareness must be spread...that's the solution...rubber snakes...really????

Only on the routes leading out of swakopmund....

With snakes being a natural predator, I would think that’s definitely something worth trying. Sometimes the best solutions are the simplest.

works with keeping aways birds. kites or something else in the shape of a predator birds keeps some out of certain areas

The solution is constant patrols on these affected areas....I don't have the recourse for doing so...
