I adopted two anoles about 2 months ago. One is a very small cuban female, the other an adult female green anole. They were housed in the same 10 gal tank by the previous owner. I seperated the two, and then adopted a male green anole. So now in the 10 is the male and female green anole, and in a 6 hex aquarium the little female cuban by herself.
Things seemed to go normally, the male and female getting on well, and I saw them mating a couple of weeks ago.
The two tanks are in visual range.
The other day, while I was feeding them, the female Cuban shot out of the top of the tank and made a b-line to the other anole tank. When she couldn't get in the front, she climbed over the top and tried to get in the back.
I was astounded! I did get her back into her own tank, but now I'm wondering if there is some sort of anole lonliness going on. I know the cubans are supposed to be more agressive than the greens, but she's really barely more than half their size.
What do you folks think? Should I let her in with them? Get her a companion? Or was it just a weird pre-full moon fluke?
