Very bad!

Yes, you should not be housing in a glass tank. Proper care requires that they be housed in an all screen enclosure with NO subtrate on the bottom and they also require proper lighting and feeding + correct supplementation.

Not sure if this is your first Cham but you definatley need to do research about the proper care. The conditions you are currently keeping in will lead to a very short life.

I am a first time Cham owner and I did tons of research prior to getting my Cham to ensure proper care & environment. He is doing great for me but I attribute that to being prepared ahead of time. Hind-sight is 20/20 so now that you have the Cham first and are asking for help and advise I am sure many more knowledgable people than I will be willing to give you good instruction. I think there is a post in referance to proper care under one of the forum titles by Brad, actually here is the link:
https://www.chameleonforums.com/basic-husbandry-38769/

Good luck with your Cham and thanks for posting for advise, just be sure to follow it and do lots more research reading Brads post will be a great start!

Substrate should never be used in chameleon enclosures for risk of impaction. like the others have said, get rid of the subtrate asap.

i have been told by many pet stores that it doesnt matter if its a glass tank just as long ifs ventalated very well but i will take all the moss out should i take out the hydro balls to i spent alot on those and no i have a jackson cham to since he wont get as big as the panther i have him in a exoterra 18x18x24 cage i mean i have spent alot of money on alot of my supplies i am new at this but i love chams i dont even remember how many pet stores i have been to just to get info on them but my panther is only 8 months old and just got him about like 3 weeks ago and my jackson about 4 months ago but i was looking info on them before i got them i guess i just cant believe everything i here i guess

pet stores sell things, its there job to get you to buy shit, its notr there job to understand what chameleons need or what is most suitable for them, mine has no cage... check it out

There's no rule on chams needing to be in a all screen enclosure. They do need ventilation which is easier to achieve with an all screen terrarium. But depending on your geographical local, glass enclosures can help in keeping your temps and humidity up.

No no rule but easier to maintain...

No, no rule but easier to maintain and glass is more prone to bacteria... This poor guy was relying on advise from Pet Stores and that is as we all know and have seen not a reliable sorce of information. Most Pet Stores cannot even properly care for the reptile they have in the store let alone get someone started in the right direction with Cham care & Husbandry... So I agree it's not a rule... but it is also not advisable by most breeders or Cham keepers.

well i got another question my panther hates being squirted like he hates it. He gets mad and starts to try to dodge the water from getting on him but my jackson dont care to get wet i think he likes it but it seems like everything i have bought i have wasted money bc it is all wrong then and i guess i have wasted like 1000 bucks then

My panther hates it too and there is not much you can do to change that. I noticed mine will tolerate it more when the water is warm and not cold. He rarely drinks from being misted, but will drink out of his dripper.

I find that either very, very fine mist or big "rain drops" are preferred by mine. He really dislikes the spray that comes out of a normal hand sprayer. So, I tend to spray the top of the cage and the plants so it "rains" on him...that seems less objectionable to him.

say i have tired all of it but he will only drink from the waterfall idk how come my panther will like always miss the crickets he is 8 months and always been hand fed is he just not used to caching them or what bc he is really off aim but he is getting better but it just worrys me sometimes its just a really bad miss for the cricket........where is a good place that has big cages for cheap but i do want him out of the tank as fast as i can get all the hydroballs out so something bad doesnt really happen i mean i clean my cage every 2 days

Here is a link to lllreptiles, they have good screen cages and are very reasonable:

Razzmo, go into forums, health clinic, and fill out the "How to ask for help" form. There could be an issue as to why your chamelon has bad aim. Are you using supplements? Another thing that is frowned up here is the waterfalls. They do tend to breed bacteria and your chameleon is drinking out of that. Fill out the form so we can see if there is something that needs to be changed in your set up that might be detrimental to the health of your chameleon.

Hi Razzmo, if you could fill out the ask for help form it will help us to give you the best help possible for your chams. It sounds like your panther is having some problems if he keeps missing crickets. Here is the link for the help form and we can go from there.
