Need help gendering!

I had a big scare earlier when I was told that my male veiled Cham was actually a female that needed to lay eggs. I’m not sure if this is an egg bound female, or they were wrong and this is a male. The store the Cham came from was certain it was a male, and I’m slightly confident that it is a male. I tried putting it in a laying bin, but they had no interest in digging and laying.
But he/she does tend to dig around in the dirt of their enclosure. I am removing the dirt as soon as my new cage comes in the mail.
This is a little time sensitive from a medical standpoint. If anyone wants to help out that would be appreciated.

First off I know you ordered a dragon strand. You need to email them and find out the ship date. If it is not shipping this week then you need to go buy a zoo med screened cage, at the very least 16x16x36. Honestly I would be trying to escape and dig my way out of that cage too. It is way way too small for her. She barely can turn around. The tiny exo terra is a death trap for that girl. Also I thought you said you got her from a friend. Now you are saying store. Please be honest with us. We cant help you unless you are.

That is a female. She needs a place to lay inside of her enclosure -- not outside. She will not feel comfortable enough to dig and lay if she is being transported to a new enclosure. Is there any reptile store near you? I would highly suggest making the changes suggested to you in previous threads before you leave town.

Your not taking into consideration all the information you have gotten. The changes have to be made or she will die. It is a female. Hoping it is male is not going to do you or her any good. I know this is overwhelming but this is where you are at in this situation. It is extremely common for pet stores to not give the correct gender on chams.

Use the search function to look up lay bins. You will get a ton of info. She needs the correct cage, lighting, supplements, temps, humidity levels, and a permanent lay bin. All we can do is provide you with the correct information. You have to implement it. Good luck with her.

I suggested the big rubber made type bin set up because I thought I read that the cage being used was too small to put a laying container in....and this is sort of an emergency. I have used these bins for many years and they do work. The idea is to put the chameleon in the big laying bin and leave her there until she lays the eggs...not move her back and forth. With mine I put the lid on the cage after cutting away most of the lid and screening the hole in the lid with screen so the female can't escape. It takes them a day or two to get used to being in there.

I’ve been working with her behind the scenes, she set up the trash can method this morning but wouldn’t leaver her alone in there long enough for her to even attempt a dig.

Now she’s back to questioning gender....
