Hello everyone...
I have a green frog and keep crickets for feeding...I order online from Armstrong and it seems to be hit and miss on keeping them alive...some last to young adult getting their wings (that's as long as I was able to)...I buy them 1/2"... for some reason they are dying off like crazy!!!
I order 500 at a time I keep them in a 56 quart Tupperware container with a screen top (I've cut the plastic off and put wire screen on).. I have egg cartons, paper towel rolls, cardboard pieces and lots of places for them to be so that they are not ontop of eachother... I have a lamp over them like the reptile lamps.. temp hovers about 73 to 75 I also have a fan in the room to circulate the air...
food wise: I cut up potatoes, romaine lettuce, moist cat food, fluker's gut load cricket food, dry fish food... pop lids with the gel deals for water...
I don't understand why they are dying in such large amounts I think today alone I threw out at least 100!! I don't get it am I doing something wrong?? does it vary this much from shipment to shipment??? what can you not give to them?? what will take out a colony in the matter of a few days?? are they super sensitive to anything in particular?? I know humidity will get em... any suggestions are greatly appreciated as buying crickets every couple weeks sucks this is why I buy online in hopes to keep crickets at least to adult before they die off...
