Need help with Hoes

Haha. ok now that i have your attention, I am getting a hoe from someone on here in a few months and need some more info.
I know thye drink more water than veileds.
I know they like slightly cooler temps, like around 70-75 during the day, and cooler temps at night, around 50-60.

I am curious as to the following.
I read that they like higher humidity. however the folowing quote has me confused "Warmer, household temperatures over night seem to be too warm, in a glass enclosure especially, a mesh enclosure could help this, but in very young hoehneliis mesh is unadvisable as a consistent temperature gradient is hard to maintain."
So which should i use.. glass or mesh for a baby? I know the never ending argument on glass vs. mesh, so dont rehash that.

I read that adults eat smaller insects, is this true? or can i feed an adult hoe the same things I feed my (soon to be adult) veiled?

What should their supplement schedule be?
Finally- read this quote "As they are a small species you can use a smaller enclosure but 3x2x2f is preferable for an adult male, babies of course should be housed in smaller enclosures until they reach a suitable size for a larger enclosure. I have kept hoehneliis in both glass and mesh enclosures and found that adults do much better when kept in mesh under cooler ambient temps. Baby hoehneliis, like Baby Panthers do better in glass than mesh for the first few months of life."

Is that an acceptable cage size for an adult, and should I do a glass first for baby then mesh, or just stay with mesh the whole time. etc.

Thanks in advance!

I think it really depends on what temp gradient you can provide and humidity. My average temps during the day are 70 at bottom and 82 for basking and he's in a small reptibreeze. For the most part my room is cool. My humidity is quite high, I've had absolutely no problems in terms of hydration. Always perfect droppings, etc. My guy is also VERY active and loves climbing all over.

I read that adults eat smaller insects, is this true? or can i feed an adult hoe the same things I feed my (soon to be adult) veiled? These guys are small, a 6 month old is very small compared to the typical veiled. I find my guy likes the smaller crickets. Once your guy is a full adult you can probably feed the same size feeders as to your adult veiled but I'm sure you're guy will tell you what he wants

What should their supplement schedule be? I supplement with a plain calcium daily, once he's older, every other day. I lightly dust 1x a month with D3 (unless you're getting your guy outside regularly) and a multivitamin 1x a month as well. I lean more towards a good gutload

Thanks in advance!

Can't wait for your little guy to show up!!

No one got swag like i do, when people say they got their swag on, pfft.....mine got no off button:cool:

Stupid computer, not updating to show me oyu had actually responded. Lol

Thanks!
I think my guy is gonna be problt2-4 months, just waiting to here back from showjet.

If you can provide high enough humidity then I'd just go with a screen enclosure. Be prepared when you get your guy, he's going to be small! I personally think they're pretty easy to keep (well at least CBs are). I mist quite a few times during the day and have a dripper, never have any problems. I also just have a large, thick Schleffera in there. It should last forever as they aren't too big to destroy the plant, then I've a small biovine pinned in the cage. Pretty simple!

yea my only concern is the humidity, but if i cant keep it high enough, im gonna wrap two sides of the msh cage with shower curtain, if that doesnt work, ill get a viv. no biggies.
Im already prepared for small, Kink was 2 weeks when i brought him home! hehe.
I cant wait, its like xmas! there noses are so damn cute!
I plan on putting Kinks baby cage plants in with him 4 shorter pothos for the new hoe to roam on.
I am also gonna buy a mistking so when im not home, they can get water. I keep a dripper going all day for kink, so no worries tere either.
thanks for th supplement schedule, i def could not find that anywhere!
Now, its just a waiting game.
Gotta name for your hoe yet?

Side note- kinda cool that not alot of people have these. I love having stuff that other dont. Thus why i have always had german shorthaired pointers, or now an english setter. cuz i love the qustion, 'oo waht is he?" lol

Anywhere I've found online the sites say about 50% humidity, I don't find that very high but then again humidity plus constant misting must seem like the forest. You should be fine, I'd just mist more then you do for your veiled.

Sounds like you've everything all planned, it's always so exciting! My supplement schedule is based on those on the forums and from online. I hunted for people who keep Hoes and had many questions!

Hehe you say small, my little guy was all curled up when I opened the box. So freaking tiny, I had to let out a big awwwww!! And the hoe is still unnamed, I just call him the Hoe. One day I will figure out a name, nothing has clicked yet.

mine was curled and ina a corner in her baggie. gave me a heart attack! i picked her up and got really sad; she was sleeping though. she than uncurled and started walking around! so cute! to keep up misting i mist chloe 3times a day for about 2-3mins. she gets misted the same +2-3 littler mistings. keeps her humidity about 43 when its on the lowist side and mostly its 50something.+ i was given a care sheet im trying to follow well. mabey the breeder will give you one aswell.
