need tips

I can not seem to get my new panther baby out of his cage. Everytime I put my hand in there he runs to the other side and I don't want to kill him with stress.

I am planning on feeding him and misting him in the explorarium outside all day. This way he can get real UV and I don't have crix running around the house.

As you can tell by my other posts, I am super sold on the explorarium. The only problem is that I can't get him out. Today, he jumped down and missed a branch and hit the bottom b/c he was so scared.

Please help.

at the top of my cage is a vine where he basks at, i found it easiest to get him while he is up at the top of his cage. i just nudge him onto my hand and out he comes.

Get yourself a long stick, stick it in the cage and then herd it with your hand, then once it is on the stick be quick to take it out of the cage. Easy as pie!

People always against handling the chameleon............i just did the opposite... i kept handling them.... starting with a few second till they turn black..and keep prolong it every day ....let it climd all over you... in about 2 weeks time... they will get so used to you that they wont freak out when you are near. They can be handle, hand fed etc.......

if you don't handle them when they are young...they turn into monster when they grow... hissing, biting....... my first veiled chameleon will bite my fingers off if i get near.....my other chameleons are very very very tame... since they are used to being handle.

Whats your advice to handling one who has just turned crazy? He always let me handle him before and now not so much always with the hissing and gaping, will it hurt if he bites me with a glove on? How deep do their teeth penetrate? I have a pair of mechanics gloves will these do or do i need thicker gloves, also mind if he bited me or the glove do you think it will hurt his teeth?

with gloves on..it feel like someone trying to pinch you. without gloves on.... you will ended up bleeding.... they bite like sharks.... once bite they will wiggle their head left and right untill blood is drawn.

Ren...did your Veiled turn crazy now? i would advice to put some cotton glove.... mechanic gloves is too tough for them might break some teeth. cotton is better........if you want.... don't put on anything...and let it bite till you bleed....once they get bored of biting...they will stop. LOL...

But for whatever reason, Veiled turn meaner with age. But thank god Niji Jr. still very mild manner....his father = monster!!!
