My little guy is sick and we have to take him over three hours one way to Kansas State University to see a specialist. Any special tips for a better ride for him?

A dark box with a stick wedged inside so he can grip it securely. If the ride will be hot putting a damp towel in the bottom will cushion a fall and provide some humidity. Most chams take a nap in the darkness.

thank you for your reply. So do you think the box is preferable to holding him most of the time? That was sort of my plan. my husband will be driving.

I am not familiar with the vets at k-state, other than to know they have a well respected vet school. But I really would like to have an option for someone potentially a step up from my regular vet in KC. Can you let me know how your visit goes? What are you going in for?

I sure will let you know. My vet here in Nebraska went to school there and highly recommends them and referred us.
Our little Junior is a sick little guy. We actually don't know exactly what is wrong and that is why we are going there. Our vet cannot diagnose any further, since he doesn't have the capacity for the kind of blood and other tests probably needed.
It's at least a infection and/or abscess of some sort. Eye problems too.
Poor little guy. He is our only child and we are heartbroken.

Maybe we can help you help the vet if you would answer our "How to Ask for Help" questions located in the sticky message at the top of the Health Clinic forum. The vet will want the details of your husbandry anyway, so maybe we can point out some things that could be causing the trouble (nutritional deficiencies, etc)...and maybe shorten the time they will need to diagnose the problem. Always a good thing.

Thanks. We have been trouble shooting with our regular vet (a reptile specialist) for over a month and we have had Junior for 4 years so pretty clear on the husbandry side. And I have done research for years. Now we are going to a clinic with even more of a specialist with more sophisticated equipment.
